“Why I Want a Weatherby” Video Contest- Grand Prize Update
In 2009, Frank McDonald (Ligonier, Indiana) was voted the winner of the "Why I Want a Weatherby" Video Contest. McDonald was nominated by his friend and hunting partner, Dale Hagberg, who is paralyzed and bed-ridden as a result of a tragic accident. McDonald garnered nearly 6,600 votes from members of Weatherby Nation. In all more than 68,000 votes were cast for the 66 video finalists.
In June, McDonald received his Grand Prize trip to Weatherby headquarters in Paso Robles, California. There, he toured the facility with President Ed Weatherby, and then built his own custom rifle in our custom shop. Frank chose a Mark V® Deluxe model chambered in .257 Wby. Mag. He was able to put the rifle to the test the following day on a successful guided wild boar hunt with Weatherby representative Aaron Smith.
