Hi all,
Please allow me to introduce myself in the most appropriate way. I have recently celebrated my one year anniversary with my wife. She introduced me to four legged game hunting while dating. (grew up bird hunting). I started my career with a used Remmington 700 in .270 , redfield 3x9 scope. After two years and several successful hunts, I told her I wanted to make lots of improvements to my rifle. (new scope, trigger work, float the barrel) So I started researching and talking with a close friend about what I am finding/ hoping to do.
I mention the anniversary because she tells me year one anniversary gifts are paper. I buy into this and make all kinds of effort to follow the rules. Well, I come home after celebrating over dinner to a large box in my bedroom. I look at her and say what is this. She said I should open it. Mind you, the big box was not there when we walked out the door. I open the box and discover a pelican travel case. I am stunned and very excited. I thank her and start to move on. She asks, aren't you going to open the case. So, I do and to my amazement, there is a Mark V Accumark in .270 with a Leupold VX-3 4.5x14 in the case. my jaw hits the floor. Speechless!
So, I have signed up on this forum and have read tons. Nice to meet y'all.

You better love that woman big time. How in the world is she going to top that. That is a great surprise. I have bought my wife so many great gifts I can't think of anything to get her anymore. Either that or I grew up to be stupid. It sounds like you have a great wife and you better use your imagination for her gifts in the years to come.

First off, I'll say, don't you ever let that girl go, great rifle choice, great caliber choice, great scope choice, and to top it off its protected by a Pelican case!! Very nice!!
Secondly, welcome to the Nation, this place is full of very knowledgable/helpful guys.
You'll be addicted shortly.
There's only one bad thing about owning a Weatherby, they are very addicting, can't ever have just one, good luck!

Welcome the Nation Clark. I hope you enjoy your new Accumark for years to come. Glad to hear your woman has great taste :)
Good shooting,
Adam

WOW!!!!!! Welcome to the nation!!!!!
You my friend, are a very lucky man, and like many have said you have a wonderful wife and don't let her go. She obviously has great taste in firearms, so I think you need to buy her a matching Weatherby Accumark maybe in 257 Weatherby.. ;D....LOL!!!!!
Again, congrats and welcome to the nation.
Oh, and before I forget, there is no cure for the Weatherby addiction, you'll be dreaming of which other Weatherby to buy, and before you know it, you'll have a safe full of them. ;D

Clark, was that a 270 Weatherby or 270 Win, just curious?
-
Well Clark I have one question for you.... Does your wife have a twin sister that is single??? ;D
Anyway, welcome to the nation and congrats on getting one of THE BEST hunting rifles available. It sounds like a perfect setup that will provide you with years of enjoyment. And like others have said you will soon find yourself craving more Weathersby's.
Happy hunting,
Cheers,
Brett

Welcome to the nation!
Great story - if that is how you have started your married life you surely are going to be very happy in the coming years ;D
I was lucky enough to get a 270 accumark for my birthday last year, which was a gift from my wife to whom I have now been married for 29 years. Seems like yesterday we were saying our vows. BTW my profile pic is the 3 shot group I got out of the box with factory ammo after the break-in.
Hope you are as happy with yours as I am with mine (both wife and rifle) ;)
Long life and good hunting.

Well, I finally got to the range with my new rifle. It was a hot day, so new I would have to be patient letting the rifle cool. I made it through 16 shots. First shot was low and right, but on paper. With the help of a good friend we made an adjustment. got the level correct, just needed to move horizontally now. Very close to where I wanted to be for the day. After my last adjustment, (3 total) I was painting the bulls-eye at 100 yards. Mind you, I am not an expert shooter, but a little above average. After 11 shots fired and a range cease fire, it was time for an attempt at a five shot grouping. The first shot was a flyer that hit high left about 4 inches up and left. I had just run a brush through, but thought hmmm. The next four were all MOA. I have never done that before. My friend said, "I am not too familiar with Weatherby, but if they all shoot like that, I am impressed." I cannot wait to go back to the range, make the fine adjustments for even more enjoyment. I am one happy guy!

Very cool and typical of a Weatherby! ;D
-
What ammo are you putting in your 270 win? Sounds like you a had great time, both my Weatherby's were shooters right out of the box. Only 4 months to hunting season!!! ;D
-
Short answer is Remmington Core Lokt 130 grain. I did not want to use my Barnes ($$) to break it in. It will be interesting to see how the gun likes the more expensive ammo. (also 130)

Great gift from your wife, and great results from the gun!
My wife doesn't know much about guns, which can be very advantageous when adding another to the cabinet ;)
