New owner of a 257 vanguard and would like info regarding altering the trigger pull as it seems heavy with factory settings.

Timney makes a nice aftermarket trigger for it. i've got a half dozen or so. it's a cheap upgrade.

forgot to mention that Rifle Basix is making a trigger for it now too. haven't used them in the vangaurd but have in a couple Remington. they're pretty nice too.

I have the 257 Vanguard also.Trigger was not too bad but I took it to my local gunsmith and he made it great for $35.You might want to try this route and save some on the aftermarket triggers.Although I hear they are great also.Good luck and I am sure you will love the gun.

I think that the factory trigger is adjustable. The one on my Vanguard is a little heavy.I will try to adjust before I buy a new one.

PACMTG,  congrats on your new .257. It is one of the favorite calibers of the weatherby gun owners...

The (legacy) Vangaurds have adjustable triggers. Consult the owner's manual first.  After taking the action off the stock and checking the manual you'll see the two screws that are near the trigger. One is for you to adjust, if you want to try, and leave the other one alone.

If the adjustment doesn't turn out the way you want it, ask what a smith can do for you. It might be what you're wanting.  If that doesn't work, get a Timney trigger.

I've adjusted the triggers on two of my Vanguards and they're both good. They're nothing like the S2 Vangaurd trigger, but they good anyway.
