Title: WBY 30-06 project done

Finished my 30-06 after just about a year. Richards AA grade stock, used an oil finish of mineral spirits and boiled linseed oil hand rubbed. Glass bedded  and free floated barrel, not easy to glass bed a Weatherby due to the recoil lug area having the front trigger screw into the lug lots of prep. Had a brake installed, have a Smith near me that is Weatherby Certified. Uncle Mikes sling studs, no fun in drilling a new stock. Leupold Scope 4x12- 40. Took it to the Range Friday and am happy so far, easy to shoot and like a Weatherby 1 inch group.

Good work and good-looking stock. I especially like that kinda tiger stripe grain in the wood, that makes the stock stand out. Oil finishes look good, they are sturdy, and easy to maintenance. That stock would have looked good in a number of finishes including a gloss, or a Tru-Oil finish.

Nice rifle, and it really is hard to bet a 30-06 for an all around caliber for hunting

dubyam, Richards stock took about 10 weeks, The wood is very hard and most stocks are around 10 years old. As far as what you order they are right on, this is second one from them no problems. danno, looked at all the finishes went with the oil like you say the easy maintenance this Gun is going Deer Hunting so chances are it will get a ding or two.
