Title: .340 Weathermark
Post by: oregonmarkv on May 23, 2018, 05:43:00 PM
Gun shop just called that my .340 Weathermark with factory brake came in. We didn't expect it until JULY. I have 3 rounds loaded with RL26 and 200g ballistic tips to chronograph, 90, 92, and 94g.

I live 20 miles from town so I'll pick it up after my gym work out in the morning. After I get the speed I want then will try for grouping. A previous 340 was around 3300fps with 200g and RL22, so I think RL26 should get that unless it has a slow barrel.

I ran three loads over the magneto speed with 200g BT and RL26, 90g 3144, 92g 3212, 94g 3275. The gun did not like ballistic tips or accubonds so I tried the old stand by 210 partition and got a 1/2 inch group with 92g. After the weekend will try 93 and 94g and then try 225 part. and accubonds.

Looks like your on your way to getting her to shoot. Looking forward to the end results.

The 210 partition is a proven performer. With the 340 it should have plenty of range also

OregonmarkV knows what he’s talking about. I don’t “know” him personally. I do know everything he writes about and suggestions he offers, should be taken as solid, honest and with factual information based on knowledge without hyperbole. I pay attention when info is given from him.

Thank you Michiganhunter, there are a lot friendly helpful people with a lot of good information on this site and I try to help with what little I know when I can.

Well I got my 210 partition load done, ended up at just over 3200fps with 94g of RL26. Three shot groups between 7/8 and 1/2 inch. I have not got the 225 partitions ironed out yet. If they don't work out it will simplify things, just stick with the 210's.

I use 250 gr partitions in front of 86 gr of RL-22 @ 3050 fps. I zero 2" high at 100 yds. It's dead on at 290 and 5 down at 340. I've taken moose, bears, elk, deer and antelope without complaint. GJ
