Title: 416wby scope
Post by: Eric on June 09, 2018, 01:30:03 PM
Gang I am looking for your assistance on scope selection. I have 2 zeiss victory 1 in 1.5-6x42 duplex and the other is 2.5-10x50 german#4. The rifle really doesn't have a purpose maybe a bear or moose hunt. I was planning on putting the 1.5-6 on it and the other on a 300 but now am wondering if the 416 would do better with some more top end. any help is appreciated!

That 1.5-6x42 would be more than enough for a 416. In fact I would think it has to much magnification. I would rather a dangerous game scope on it something like a 1-4x20, or at the most something like a 1.5-6x32 or 2.5-8x36.
But hey that's just me. If you like the fit and feel of that bigger scope on it then that is what you should go with.

+1 on what Brett posted, I have 1.5-6 scopes on all my rifles 375 and larger.  8)

I presently have no scope on my 416 but it is a dgr from the custom shop with open sights, barrel ban, and Teflon coating.  I have consider either a 1.5 to 5 or 2.5 to 10 but so far I have left both off the 416 rifle.  I have a 3.5 to 14 on my 378 so I really consider the 416 for really up close and personal.
