It has been almost a year since Hurricane Harvey almost wiped me out. Numerous volunteers helped gut my house in the days following the flood, and knowing that most of them were probably not "gun knowledgeable," they were all told, that if ANYTHING is seen that appears to have anything to do with a firearm, to immediately tell my Brother In Law, or either of my two sons, and let them handle it. I myself was completely disoriented. Although two huge dumpsters were filled and hauled off, I still have a yard and some pasture with piles of "stuff" yet to be gone through. It will mostly all be useless after sitting out for a year in the elements, but I am going through it. I found some rotten rolled up cardboard. I unwrapped it, and there was one of my Zeiss Conquest scopes that I had bought a couple of years ago on sale at Cabelas, but had not mounted on a rifle yet. It had some "glued on" sheet rock mud on it and other debris. I cleaned it up, and to my bad eyes, it appears to be crystal clear still. I'll let someone else look through it to confirm. It had been in it's box prior to the flood, so I guess someone pulled it out of it's box, but left it in that thin cardboard that they come wrapped in, and tossed it in a pile. Everyone is telling me to just hire someone to shovel all of this stuff up and dump it, but I sure am glad I have not done that yet.
I have also found a few other not as expensive items that survived. It is very painful to be having to do this though. It is all so... tragic. MM

The luck was finding it! I can only imagine what a mess that was and is to deal with.

Mother Nature can be very cruel Mark.You have persevered though and not let it beat you.I am glad you are still finding some things you can rescue.
