Title: Wife's first hunt with 6.5 Camilla
Post by: oldchet on September 17, 2018, 07:58:08 AM
We finally got to take our hunt and this is the result of my wife's first animal she harvested with her Camilla 6.5 Creedmoor. She was using the 140 grain Remington Corelokts at 50 yards she loves her Camilla. Pig weighs 197 pounds.

This was a hunt we planned shortly after she got the rifle. It was a guided hunt in eastern Oregon on a private ranch. Got there about 10:00am checked in and got stuff unpacked into cabin, checked zero on rifles and started hunting about 1:00pm. Weather was cool and overcast saw the first pigs about 2:00 but wanted to look around some more as I was hunting for something else. Swung back about 4::30 to the same place and found more pigs. She wanted a nice eating pig not a huge boar, of which there were at least 2 that made this one look small. This one turned broadside at about 50 yards, big mistake. One shot and she was down. The strangest thing was hat right after the shot the guide said "quick we need to get over there before the others start trying to eat it". he actually had to beat off 2 pigs with a large stick and kept hitting them until we got this one loaded and out of there.

Aggressive pigs, that'll be a memorable hunt! I've seen piglets come back and lick up blood form a downed pig before but I've never seen mature adults start to cannibalize one that quickly!
