Title: Powders I wouldn't want to be without

I have used a lot of different powders at one time or another but to be honest there are only a few I would not want to be without, most of the powders I would choose are multi-caliber powders that may not be the best performers in all calibers  but good enough to  get the job done without a lot of fuss.   What are your thoughts ? 

Handgun / shotgun powders ,  HS--6 for heavy shotgun and some medium heavy handgun cartridges  I prefer HS-7 but it's not made anymore but have enough to get by.   Red dot for shotguns and small handgun cartridges,    Win 231 or HP-38  small caliber handgun powder and lite loadings for large handgun cartridges.   unique for shotgun and handguns,  H-110 or Win-296 for magnum handgun and small rifle. 

Rifle powders,  Tac for smaller to medium rifle cartridges, Hodgdons or Imr 4895 both great powders from small rifle cartridges up to 458 win mags,  H-4831 or Imr 4831 for  270 / 30-06 class cartridges, H-1000 for larger magnums such as 300 Wby, 

There are a few powders I didn't list in the above  I hope they don't get discontinued lists that I like such as Reloader 17,  Varget, H-4198,  blue dot, Imr-7828, Reloader 22, Norma MRP , Lil' gun, green dot, occasionally Retumbo. 

I do use other powders these are the one's I have a preference and feel the most comfortable with.

Mine would be H-4895, H-4350, and RL-25. All are loaded in multiple rifles, H-4895 the most versatile
Shotgun would be Clays, and International

Small bore Rifle benchmark / Varget / H335
Rifle IMR 4350 / IMR 4831
Mag. Rifle Norma MRP / IMR 7828 ssc
Shotgun  700x

I'd add 4895,and Win 760 and would be good to go.Win 748 gets an honorable mention on the small case 223 too.

I have a bunch of Retumbo on hand. I've been using it in a  lot of larger caliber loads lately. When I first started reloading handgun calibers I was using Unique for everything from 38 special to 45 Colt.

No shotguns get reloaded at my house.
Handgun powders HS-6, unique.
Rifle powders W 748, IMR or H. 4831. 4350, 3031, 4198, 7828.
I have many more on hand but their not used nearly as much.

My rifle rack runs from a 222 Rem to a 30/378 Weatherby. One or two powders just wouldn't cut it. But if there is ever a powder that I would not want to do without , it would be Norma MRP. There is a reason that Weatherby has been using this powder in their factory ammo for decades. JMO

I don’t reload shot shells. My son loads heavy pistol cartridges and likes H-110 and Win 296.

I use a lot of Winchester Staball6.5,W-748, H-4350, H-4831, H-1000, Superformance, RL-16, RL-19, RL-26 and some RL-23. It is very close to H-4831.

RL-26, StaBall and H-4831 have to be the top three I wouldn’t want to be without.
