Great video DW. Although I must admit I am a little dizzy after watching the first part. ;D Congratulations on the kill and keep the videos coming. Good luck on getting the big boy later in the season. When is your and your Dads javelina hunt?

It's not a difficult rifle to disassemble - triggers (Timney is a good choice), barrels & stocks are available (and information can be found), but if I were in your position, I would put the money into another complete rifle that is how you want it (new or used) and leave this one alone for uses where a shorter barrel may come in handy (like hunts in heavy brush, etc.). All you would have left of this gun would pretty much just be the action. Aside from the fact that you could probably just about get a new Vanguard for what this would cost you, you would have to be careful in the component choices to avoid issues (like the barrel and stock need to work cohesively to get decent accuracy (and you could end up having a bedding job in store). If you like this kind of project, it could be fun, but possibly not practical on financial and time-involved levels, as you are almost pretty much building a new rifle from the ground up. This is just my opinion (and everybody's got one LOL), and some may disagree, but it's something to think about and weigh what it will take.
I agree 100 per cent with Tex.

I'd try Shilen from my experiences.

Mark:H4895 is my most used powder for multiple calibers with H4350 coming in second.I buy it in the 8 lb containers and have never used it for reduced loads but always knew I could.

Tom:You should easily get 3000 fps with a 22 inch barrel with the 250 Savage. Although I am not too sure on how they will open up at 1800 fps.Though I might have to kick you in the butt if you turn a 224 VarmintMaster into a 250 Savage. lol Data from ballistic chart

Not to be rude but the Mark V magnums have nine locking lugs, Mark V non-magnum calibers have six locking lugs, and all Vanguards have two locking lugs.
That is not rude but just the truth.
