Ammo / Re: Best 7mm rem mag factory load for deer

I didnt have a very steady rest...i sighted in with the corelokts....i bought the 2bucks a shot ammo cuz i had a gift card to spend at walmart...it groups well, i just didnt wanna adjust my scope to suit the patterning of the new ammo...its 27 a box for the corelokts, and 40 a box for the ballistic tip silvers...

and i always shoot three shot groups...and try to let the barrel cool down some in between shots...I need to invest in a stable shooting rest and hopefully things will get better.

I appreciate all the replies guys...but when you start naming off bullet types, you kinda lose me...i know the normals like soft point fmj and such...but this sst and partition stuff i dont understand as of yet...

I bought some 150 gr remington soft point and they sighted in 1'' high at 100 yds....bought some 40 bucks a box premium silvertips, and they went to about 5-6'' high at 100 yds...im not super shot leaning off my ammo can, but it seems like my rifle like the cheaper ammo better...

I wish i knew a reloader locally to help me out...and most of these shots will be under 150 yards...

I was wondering what everyone's thoughts were on what the best ammo is for whitetail deer that can be bought at a local store...I have no idea how to handload, and no one to help me with it...so no option there. Thanks

I am looking for something under 200 yards that wont seperate and damage meat.

Thanks Again.

Rifles / My First Weatherby

Well I went to the local Walmart the other day, looking to purchase a Mossberg 100 ATR as the price was only $257. I just wanted a CHEAP deer rifle to use a couple days this year. Well, I walked back to the guns, and there was a 16 yr old boy there with his mom. They were also looking at the Mossberg, which I was set on taking home with me. I overheard his mom saying he had been working hard all summer to earn this money, and he's really been wanting a rifle. So I told the kid I'd wait, and let him take first pick, and if he didn't buy it, I would. And if he did, I was gonna take the Weatherby home. Well the kid decided to get the Mossberg, so I opted for the 350.00 Weatherby 7mm rem mag over the .270...

Now I'm trying to pick a good scope, at a fair price to handle this recoil.

Sorry for the long story, thats just how I came to own my first Weatherby.
