So not to further highjack PAbuckhunter's thread "Checkering a Rifle Stock," and in response to the kind comments on the pics that I posted of my .375 RUM stock checkering, Here's some pics of the Fancy walnut stock that I finished and checkered for my .300 Weatherby Vanguard.  This is the same pattern that I put on my .375 RUM, .257 Ackley, and .22-250.  Look closely on the first pic, there are about 75 elk in the field under the forearm.  8)

Itís okay, those stocks turned out great!

Iím looking to get my Boydís laminate stock on my Ruger M77 Mark ll 280 AI checkered. Any suggestions on who is good? Iím just looking for basic patterns, nothing fancy. Or would it be cheaper to buy another stock?

Thanks Roger and DW. I sent you a PM Chris.

Here's my little tack driver. This is a .223 Wylde with a JP Rifle Precision Match barrel and titanium bolt with ultra light BCG, Noveske VLTOR upper receiver, Anderson lower with Giessele kit and Elfman Trigger. The scope is the infamous Schmidt and Bender PM II 5 x 25 - 50mm. The stock is the MagPul PRS Gen 3 with a JP Rifle silent captured buffer in the tube. Before I realized it, I had over 5,000.00 invested in it, thank god ammo is cheap.  The fun part about the AR is not just the fun at the range but it's all the cool stuff you can do to them to personalize them. Have tons of fun with your new rifle but set yourself an upgrade budget, add-ons are addicting.

Nice looking rifle! Iím looking forward to getting out to the range with it and whack some coyotes with it.

Hey guys this might be a stupid question but I bought a Remington R-15 VTR stainless in 223 Rem. I bought it as my main coyote hunting rifle and to shoot for fun. My question is what kind of scope mounts do I get for this thing? I read some might need risers for the scope mounts. ???

The Leupold cantilever mounts for Picitany rails in the appropriate ring diameter are probably the most available. Make sure to get the cantilever or the scope will end up in you face unless you go with a shorter tactical scope or red dot. I use mounts from Era-Tac or JP Rifles. They're more expensive than the Leupolds but are built like a tank. My Era-Tac has and adjustable MOA feature which is pretty sweet when you want to get out and stretch it's legs.

Midway has the Leupolds https://ads.midwayusa.com/product/1362291726/leupold-mark-2-integral-mounting-system-ims-1-piece-picatinny-style-mount-ar-15-flat-top-matte. If you have a Sportsman's Warehouse or Cabelas/Bass Pro Shop nearby they should have them also.

Thanks for the help!
Congrats sir! Got a picture?

I ordered it today from Buds Gun Shop. Here is what it looks like though. https://www.remington.com/rifles/modern-sporting/model-r-15/model-r-15-vtr-ss-varmint

The Vanguard has metric threads, complicating this idea. 338 Federal? Check available ammo and reloading brass first. I'd  pick something a tad more mainstream. What caliber is the S1?

The S1 is a 308 Win. I figured since the 338 Federal is a 308 case necked up to fit a .338 bullet, it should be relatively easy job. I already have a 22-250, 240, 6.5-300, 270, 7mm, and 300 wbys, 270wsm, and 30-06. I think that it would be a nice addition and still be a Weatherby  ;D

I have a Weatherby Vanguard s1 I am thinking about rebarreling. I am not familiar with a rebarreling job. Do their barrels come already threaded and just screw right in? Or will I need to find a gunsmith to do the job?

Where do you hunt in Pa. I am in central Pa. Clinton County. They are getting hot in Ohio after the cold snap last weekend. Have not hunted Pa. yet. Probably next weekend.

I hunt in Pike County, itís in 3D. Itís in the northeastern part of the state.
