Rifles / Looking for a Mark V Deluxe 257 WBY
« on: March 20, 2018, 06:15:26 AM »
Not sure this is allowed and if not my apologies and the admin can delete and slap my wrist but I am looking for a Mark V Deluxe in 257, 24" or 26" inch barrel makes no matter to me.   If anyone has one they would like to get rid of hit me up.  I have a local FFL dealer here in my hometown and they have no problem recieving a package from an individual.  I recently bought a 7mm from a member here and the transaction went smooth as silk.  YOu can message me here or email or text me at my personal number.  Thanks in advance.  Have a great week!!

Rifles / Re: Who has the oldest Weatherby rifles?

I know my 270 Weatherby is not the oldest by far but it is an older model.  The safety is not on the bolt , the bolt is not fluted and it doesn't say Made in West Germany on the barrel but does say it under the action .  The Mark V designation on the side is written a little different than later models , has Pat pending instead of pat numbers and the serial number has no letters. The kick pad says  Weatheby's "tomorrow's rifles today" South gate, Calif.  I believe it was made around 61-62. The only thing I know for sure is I love it ! 😃

The store is a mom and pop shop called Zia not a corporate big store . I agree they should be able to make there own decisions and be able it make their own rules without Govt interference. Serve or not serve , sell or not sell to anyone they want.  I think I was just a little shocked that they were already on board with this rule. Maybe just protecting themselves in case of local and federal govt failure to weed out a confused and sick individual like the Parkland shooter and so many others we have seen slip through the cracks. I just don't agree with it and never will. A young man or woman at 18 can vote and help elect our govt officials, join the military voluntarily or be drafted by the selective service system during times of war, be held accountable for all their daily actions because now they are an adult. No more kid stuff.   We tell them here is a rifle , suck up , ruck up and put your life on the line daily for little pay , little recognition but oh yea when you get back from defending our lives , Liberty and freedom your still to young to buy a weapon and sit down and drink a cold beer!! BS!

I was in a gun store just a few days ago here in New Mexico and I heard the lady behind the counter tell a customer they would not sell an AR to anyone under 21 and they didn't need the law to change they just we're not going to do it. So it is already effecting the way the stores here operate and they haven't even passed the law.

Enjoyed it. Thanks for sharing .

I know this is an older post and I am new here but I just had to agree with most on here and add my two cents ! I believe the Weatherby Mark V Deluxe is the quintessential Weatherby. It is what comes it my mind when anyone says the name Weatherby! I believe it is the prettiest firearm ever built ! (My opinion, if not your's I'm ok with that ) I also believe it is the best action and most comfortable rifle to shoot on the market . As stated in several post above it is just a natural fit when I shoulder it.  It literally feels like it melts into my hands and shoulder and becomes a part of me.  I have owned Pre-64 Winchesters, Rem 700's , Rem 721's , Sako's , Tika's , Mausers , Brownings , Rugers and several other brands and they just don't do it for me the way the Weatherby does .  The Klinegunther's I have owned come close and we all know why that is But when it is all said and done The Weatherby Mark V Deluxe is the Rolls-Royce of hunting rifles.

Sorry Buckshot don't ring a bell.

Para45 will be my first 7 but have taken several deer, hogs and a slew of Coyotes with my .257

DWS I used to hunt around Iraan / Shefield myself. Had a deer lease for several years at Ozona and then over at Barnhart . Do you remember who the fellow was from Crane ?

Thank you JW. Can't wait to give it a try .

I am from a little town called Crane . It is about 3 1/2 hours South of Lubbock, in the Odessa/Midland area. I know where Denton is , used to drive a over the road chemical delivery truck and one of routes took me through there.

Thank you !! Thank you very much!! 😎 for all the warm welcomes ! I really appreciate that. I am originally from a small town in West Texas and grew up chasing wiry whitetails and desert Mulies, now I am living in Southeast New Mexico where an hour away I am able to chase elk , deer , Oryx and a host of other fun stuff to shoot ( of course only when lucky enough to draw out for it ). I killed 90% of everything I shot with an old Remington 243 and the other 10% with my Dad's old 88 Winchester in 308. Then I went hunting with my dad and one of his best friends who was carrying a German Mark V in .300 with a 2.75X10 Weatherby scope. He let me shoot it and I knew I was hooked . I asked for a 300 Weatherby for X-mas and I got a .308 😞. I never told my my mom or dad how disappointed I was and carried that 308 with pride but first chance I got after I left the house I bought a Weatherby. It was the 257 I mentioned before, not a 300 but damn it was a Weatherby! And not long after came my 300 and I am living that dream still today. I look forward to reading a posting with you ladies and gents . I am just sorry it took me so long to find a group who's passion for Weatherby is the same as mine.
