You are one lucky individual to have such a beautiful group of companions.  They are lucky to have you and your family
look after them and care for them.  Have a great day today and give each of them a big hug for me.

Thanks for sharing your story.  Great buck and so glad it worked out the way it did.

I called Weatherby a few minutes ago.  Got a very helpful rep (Allen) who looked up the year of manufacture and told me it was built in 1979. Great customer service.

This rifle has the maple spacers, gloss finish on stock and high gloss bluing. Any guess on approximate year of manufacture?

« on: November 08, 2023, 07:58:06 AM »
I was cleaning a few of my rifles this morning and one of them is a LH 300 Weatherby Mag.  The serial number is H122238
which if I am correct was made in Japan sometime between 1974 and 1984.  The Weatherby book list it as Europa RH & LH.

I am not familiar with the word Europa.  Can someone educated me as to what that means?

Just a heads up.  If your inclined, and appreciate great Wildlife Art suggest that you visit the website of Astoria's Fine Art in Jackson, Wy.  He currently has a show featuring Ken Carlson's work.  Some great African and North American Paintings.

Back in the 1950s Mannlicher-Schoenauer rifles were considered to be one of the finest rifles made.  Often compared to the early Weatherbys.  Just wondering if anyone has or had any of the Mannlicher's in their collection.

Thanks for the update.  Will think of your misfortune before firing the first round any time I visit the range.

Best of luck with your recovery.

What kind/brand of oil do you use?  I have a new Euromark stock which I believe has been oiled but I'm not sure of it.

Please provide close up pictures of the action (both sides) as well a a picture of the floor plate.  Also any markings on the barrel or action.

Google Weatherby Collectors Forum and someone there might be able to provide some guidance.  Good luck with your search.  Be sure to share any recommendations/advice that anyone shares with you.

Is your rifle built on a Mauser action or on a Mark V action which was introduced in 1958?
