Some time ago I was contaminated by Weatherby, I have a mark v ultralight in .257, fluted barrel, with it I got a good submoa group of 3 shots.

I have another Mark v, an old German with a 24" No. 1 barrel, I resigned myself to good 2-shot groups. It gets hot and dirty, the third shot is uncertain.

It reassures me to know that others have the same criteria, to hunt deer I think I don't need more.

I don't think there isn't a buck that will go far with a .270 Wby in the box.

hi w

I'm just seeing the message, yes they are .270 weatherby magnum cases I'm interested in.

What would be the price?
Could you send them to a PO Box in Laredo Tx?

Thanks for your answer.

Just to follow up on my query. I couldn't measure the speed, but I hit an interesting grouping.

I tested with I 7828 & I 4831, 130 g and 140 g Hdy SST tips, I also tested with some success 140 g Nosler BT tips.

After tests, a lot of cleaning the rifle and testing bullet lengths, I got the group in the photo with IMR 7828 (and Hdy SST tip of 130 GR.

With the rifle I received a bullets of that time only 8 and helmets, I will keep the packaging.

Thanks Catskinner.

 Thank you so much.

I have weatherby cases.

I hope to lose 100fps for the two inches, I'll try 7828 first.

I just got a Mark V, made in Japan, it has a 24 "barrel and the slim barrel has a beautiful wood. It's old.

I am going to reload manual, they believe that with the 24 "barrel I can get closer to the speeds indicated in the manuals, they all handle data with 26" barrels.

I only have IMR 7828. IMR 4831 and Hdy SST 139 gr.

I'll use data from Nosler, or maybe Hornady.

The barrel is not floated, I'm going to frame it, what do you think?

Thanks. . .

I agree.

I just needed another beer and I went to the right place

It is never enough, the last 3 rifles I have bought are weatherbys, they have all satisfied me.

I prefer the .257 wby, but a new love doesn't hurt.

It just struck me that I see few posts about the .270 Wby.

Greetings

Hi everyone.

After a while I get back on the road.

I have the opportunity to buy a beautiful Wby, made in Japan, with a beautiful wood, it is .270 wby magnum.

I already have wbys. at .257 and .300.

It will be worth it to shoot the deer, what an experience they have.

I want to keep it light with tips of 130 or maximum 140. I do manual reloading.

I appreciate your comments.

Cngrats for your rifle, exc caliber

I also understand.

How difficult to get used to, some time ago I bought a Mark V light fluted in my favorite caliber the .257, I did not get used to it, with 3 shots it would get excessively hot, I changed the barrel to a sporter the pacnor, it does the same, but I took it away light.

I also have a vanguard that was .30-06, I transformed it into a .280 AI, it is an excellent caliber and excellent rifle, one of the most accurate with various types and weights of bullets. I want to try the 168 gn acu long range. Hope the twist can stabilize it.

Thanks for all your replies.

Eford, I will replicate your procedure at 300 meters.

I use my .257'heavy (custom winchester) to hunt on trails, I have a good load with Hdy SST of 117 gr, in my blind I have a firing line of more than 500 meters.

I try not to shoot at more than 300 meters, but well then why do I have a .257 wby.?

The light rifle (Mark V) I plan to use to hunt in the hills, I am looking for a good load for it, in these hunts we often shoot from hill to hill.

Good hunting

Rifles / A question
« on: June 02, 2020, 08:25:46 AM »

Hi.

A question for those who handle .257 wby. Aim the rifles at 200 yards or 300?

I have read that it is better to do it at 300 yds.

The rifle has a swaro of those with a gaduated reticule installed.

The rifle is firing a barrel pacnor, so far I have only fired factory ammunition at 100 gr.

I am starting the search for loads with tips of 100 gr, partition and with 115 BT. you may also try 110 accu. of the latter I have very little existence.

Thanks for your reply.
