good to hear - I think if you hit something with those scirocco's you'll fall in love! IMO one of the finest bullets on the market today!

They are shooting well so far. I’ve got some 127’s now so I’m going to make a chart for both.

Weatherby’s warrantee is send it to us and we will assess it. If it’s our fault we fix it. If it’s not you pay return shipping as well. Simple enough. Their are things that will void the warranty. Having unauthorized gun smiths work on major things. Exc. it’s all in the owners manual.

Maasjod, You can find most of the stuff used from Gun Broker or ebay. I use an RCBS press with primer tool attached, Lyman scale and Lyman case trimmer. Try to make sure your press has the priming tool attachment as pictured, that makes it nice as it's always there when you need it. A reloading manual is also nice to have handy or you can look up load data online.

What about a micrometer? Also I’m sure I could find something on line but how do you measure your bullet jump?

Set of calipers. Your cleaning rod with tape over the hole so the tip of your bullet doesn't go up in it when you are measuring the free bore.Do I need to go thru the whole process?

No I'll figure it out. No Need to make you explain the whole process. I'll learn. I was just curious how that worked and I was too lazy to google it. I'm going to try and find a decent press and scale. And then start purchasing the other necessities. Thanks for the help.

That’s the best thing about having a forum like this. Thank you for not disappearing and leaving info that could definitely come in handy for someone else. Probably not a common issue, I have three vanguard 2’s that shoot like yours does now with no mods. I have seen guys post that they have improved accuracy by bedding. I’d be afraid of messing with mine , I’d have to take to a smith if I had any issues. We have a good local gunsmith that is very patient and knowledgeable . Like dr Phil lol

It is really easy to modify the stock. I used a wood burning tool to roughen up the surface and melt the plastic "V"s. After that it was easy. Just mix up the compound and pour (Or Scrape) it in. Level it off and presto. You have a bedded foregrip.

A while ago I had posted a thread that got out of hand and I don't want to update the thread so I'm creating a new one.

I had an issue with my Vanguard S2 holding or even achieving Sub MOA when shooting off of bags. Shooting from a Bipod I was easily holding sub MOA.

After some discussion, I decided to Glass bed the foregrip area from the back of the upward pressure point to the Front of the recoil lug area.

I removed material in the foregrip area where the "V"s where but I left the upward pressure point alone.

I filled the entire foregrip with Glass Bedding material but kept it under where the "V"s where originally. This way there was no contact on the barrel from the recoil lug area all the way to the upward pressure point.

I have attempted to recreate the issue i was having twice now. It is impossible to recreate. This thing is holding .5 MOA at 100 yards if not landing rounds in the same hole.

The issue on my rifle was fixed with a 30 dollar kit and a couple of hours of work.

Hopefully this will help someone else if they have the same issue.

I can't explain how nice it is to have the rifle shooting the way it should.

Ive been using 130 grain sciroccos and 140 Grain bergers. I cant get my hands on 127s. They are always backordered.
I got the best results from the 130s.

I ended up passing on the Rifle. There is a different platform out there for the .338 that I really like. I'll probably just purchase that one at one point in time.

Thanks.

Following.

I just got my 6.5-300 broken in completely yesterday. I'm tired of waiting for ammo to become available and paying for it. I am going to get into reloading just because of this round. Best excuse ever I know. I've never reloaded before and I don't have any of the necessary tools to do so.

What are you guys using for a reloading setup? Pros and Cons?

I have been looking at the Hornady Lock-N-Load reloading kit as a start. I know I'll need a scale and dies as well.

I got really good grouping with the 130 grain scirocco yesterday. But, I want to try the 127's as well as heavier grains for larger mammals. At 60-100 dollars a box it makes sense to reload this round. Plus the 127's that everyone recommends are never in stock.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks.

This thread is definitely gotten out of hand and is not what it was intended to be. There has been a lot of opinions and other comments that have fueled frustration on my end and some others apparently. I removed my own personal opinion after re reading it with a clear head. It was out of line. This site is and should be used for topics of discussion and praises not bashing. We should be open to discussion and trouble shooting minor issues. All other major issues should be run through Weatherby. This forum should be an open resource for Weatherby customers. As we have all seen recently these types of threads can and will be removed. At the 5:00 minute mark in the Weatherby “the move” video it stated that “18 out of 70” employees moved with them. So I was a bit off on my statements. It would appear that some of those 18 were all of the gun smiths from CA according to Adam Weatherby. Anyways let’s move on from this and continue to be what this site was intended to be. I have a couple of messages from members on here and I’ll continue to trouble shoot this odd situation. If I can find out how to remove this thread I will. This has gone way to far off the intended path and it will most likely not be able to continue with the intended resolution. If I figure something out I’ll start a new thread so I can update your guys.

I have not been able to go back and shoot yet. Ammo is hard to find. Well the correct ammo is hard to find around here. there is 140 Grain on the shelf but that's not what i am shooting or plan on shooting out of the rifle. The melting portion of the stock was touching the barrel causing inconsistent upward pressure. (This is my theory) The rifle should group regardless of how it's being supported correct? So shooting off of bags or a bipod would and should only affect the point of impact not grouping ability if anything.

i have attached a picture labeled with the issue. I understand where you're coming from and agree. i have found a lot of useful information by searching threads on here and through other members. Weatherby has some issues they need to shake out with the Wyoming site. This happens with most manufactures when they move. I deal with these types of situations at my job. Most companies that move have problems when they start manufacturing out of the new site. Some bounce back and others do not. It is a wait and see game at this point. From what i've heard Weatherby has been a great manufacture in the past and most likely will be in the future. It just takes patience and good customer service. The customer service from my experience is hit and miss. I dealt with 1 person initially and they were not very good at returning emails. The other person i dealt with afterwards was much better at returning emails and answering questions. All this being said, i would expect this next year to be full of ups and downs and hopefully all the new employees are well trained by the end of it. Returned or warranty rifles will show them what they need to fix.

That rant aside, I'm going to bed the foregrip tonight and remove the burnt material. This should fix my issues.

Not a correct statement there. The rifle was assembled in Wyoming. Yes the barreled action was made by howa. The stock was probably made somewhere else as well. They put it together in Wyoming and checked it over including test fire rounds. This is where the QC part comes into play. The sand bag and bipod part of the thread has been derailed a bit. Mostly this issue is caused by inconsistent upward pressure. That I can fix. Quality control at the factory for new rifles I can’t.

It’s sad. I honestly don’t want to bash them whatsoever. But they are in an odd phase. They have only been open in WY for less than a year now??? They only kept 10 people from the original factory. Something has to give and it’s their quality. They were known for quality before the move. Now I’ve seen quite a few posts from guys with QC issues on rifles with the WY stamp. Unacceptable for someone with the reputation of Weatherby to let these rifles go out the door.
