Rifles / Re: 270 Wby Mag
« on: March 09, 2023, 05:50:37 PM »
I have a 270wby in the accumark and I love that gun I'm shooting a 140gr and it's shooting well with those. I did just order 130gr for coyotes so we shall see how they shoot.

I load for three 270 wby's, and never had a lot of good results with getting the 140's to shoot in mine. With 130's the first powder to try is 7828ssc, and with 150's try RL25 frist. I have pretty much settled on the 130's for 270 Wby, with a modern stout made 130 gr bullet @ 3500fps, I have no problem using them to take game including moose and elk at reasonable hunt distances.

Rob

thank you sir if I can find powder I sure will try them out. I like the 140s cause it's the best of both worlds of speed and weight. But if the 130s are better then that is what I'll shoot.

Varmint / Re: Any Groundhog Hunters Here?
« on: January 16, 2022, 03:53:46 PM »
I'm a groundhog hunter. It's something I love to do it's great practice and I get to help land owners out. I had a farm I hunted hogs on for years but then it was sold and I was told by the new owners I wasn't welcome back. I must have killed damn near 100 hogs over the years farthest shot was 311 yards all with a 17wsm. Well I did stalk one and got it with a shotgun.

Reloading / 340wby needs help
« on: January 15, 2022, 08:59:33 AM »
Is anyone getting or exceeding factory velocity with a 250gr. Cause looking at load data nothing comes near the factory loads that I can find. The numbers in the books are just about a 338win and if that's the case I should have went with that over the 340wby. Any tips or load data would be appreciated.

Well guys I just bought my second Mark V. I got it in 270wby and I'm excited to see what it can do. I sold 2 vanguards in 270win and 300wby to get this gun. It's and accumark just like my 340wby. I'm putting a burris veracity 3x15 on it. Can't find ammo but have found brass and ordered dies for it. If anyone has this what's your load data if you don't mind helping out.

I bought 6 boxes of ammo I got 250gr 200gr and 210gr and so far it likes them all. I wanna try 225gr but I think im sticking with the 250gr I like a heavy bullet. I have a vanguard in 300wby and I don't know how much trigger time that gun will get now that I have a 340wby.

Well guys I got my first Mark V its a accumark chambered in 340 weatherby and holy hell it's an angry gun and I love it its shooting an 1in at 100 and 1 3/4 in at 200 ( no break in period ) the recoil isn't really bad at all. With the muzzle break on it feels like a 338 win mag. Next time I go to the range I'm gunna try it without the muzzle break on it

Rifles / Re: What do you think the new wby round is
« on: August 22, 2021, 06:54:27 AM »
What ever it is ( thank God it's not another 6.5 ) I really hope they offer it in the vanguard. Cause even though I want a mark v I have a family a dog and a house to take care of and the vanguard line is how I can be a part of weatherby. Fingers crossed for a 340rpm

I was told by 2 Weatherby employees 2 years ago that they were working on a 7-378 Weatherby but had run into problems. So I’m sticking to that guess!
I dont think it's that. Adam said he had a caliber he went on an elk hunt with in 2018 and didn't release it cause it wasn't up to his standards

« on: June 01, 2021, 06:47:52 PM »
I really just want to put a barrel on my vanguard. I did see the ones on gunbroker and the one I was looking at was an older one for a 1000 that's pretty cheap. I keep waiting for them to come back in on weatherbys site but it's been months since they had one in 340 or 270wby

Can't go wrong with the 300wby the ballistics on the round are amazing and you can get it in a vanguard for under 600 if you shop around.
