Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Pride
« on: February 10, 2018, 01:03:51 AM »
i almost didnt post this at all, but on further thought, maybe theres more to this than i had at first thought. oh, and also a question.

this video is mostly very unimportant to this community, except for a very small fraction of a second... or maybe more at other times... havent caught any of that, though. there is more to it than showing a video of a foreign festival with music most people here probably hate or at best cant stand.(which is what almost stopped my from posting this until i gave it more thought)

if you pause about half way through 1:52(somewhere in the middle of that second. jumps from scene to scene fast.) youll see an american flag... part of one. i held it up at that certain point in that certain song. "i know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!" was the quote used in the song that was actually playing as that footage was captured. in this video, you hear different music over videos captured at various random times during the event.' worth noting the lyrics were used by a dutch guy, probably just because he liked the way it fit his song, not because of anything to do with the usa. but at that time i held my flag up high... well, sort of. my arms are only so long.

sad the lack of pride people show in the country they live in, feasting on freedom of speech, trying to turn it into freedom from speech, only for themselves, of course. the fact is, people will say things you dont like... and things that you shouldnt like. but the world cares not, it spins away. there are times to move on from what people say. dividing so angrily over who voted for who... you cant stop people from saying things you dont like, right or wrong. maybe they should go move somewhere where the govt decides what is _considered_ right or wrong, and where you cant make corrections, question everything or anything at all, or speak up for what is right or against what is wrong. "youve got to stand for something, or youll fall for anything". what when you cant? the tables can always turn on a dime. oppressing those who are wrong can create a foundation for oppression to begin with, which when turned... these snowflakes are so unproud to live in a country which has until very recently made far more progress than regress, all because they dont like that somebody is allowed to say things they dont want to hear. so unproud of the progress that has been made, even in their favor. so unproud of the freedoms that enable their behavior. and coupled with the hostility of the (typically liberal) snowflakes against those with pride in their country... and the way donald trump has been portrayed to the world by the other LEADERS OF HIS OWN COUNTRY? seriously? this is not about politics, it is just the opposite. i do not care who thinks what of the president. he is the president, like it or not. you are free to not like it, something you are not everywhere. politics as a whole really have become the systematic division of the people of a country or the world. sad how unproud these other leaders are of their country and they portray their own people... all because "I DONT LIKE THIS MAN WAHH WAHH". it reflects poorly on all of us to the world. no surprise that some people hide their pride with the hostility they are shown, even in places like BOSTON. its insane, can hardly blame them, wanting to get out alive. anyway, back to the point (i know, that was a terrible, broken rant). i proudly wore my colors, in a gathering attracting participants from all around the world... probably mostly europe... and didnt give a shit what others said. occasional "fuck donald trump!" upon seeing the flag. smile back, and keep walking. i dont care what others think of my country, nor what they think of a man who leads it. he is not everyone in his country, even if he represents them.

this festival is called "Defqon.1",  and takes place in late june every year, in biddinghuizen, the netherlands. last year was the 15th edition, and was my first time attending, mainly due to age. as far as i know, it is the largest general hard dance festival in the world. i will be attending this year again, and once again, with my flag and the same pride in my country.

i sort of want to rant about "pride" but... i think i have ranted enough for one single post... im sleep deprived... i rant worse when sleep deprived.

on to the question. part of displaying my flag involved my wearing it on my back, careful to avoid it touching the ground and keep it clean and all that. that said, is it acceptable to tie it? i really wasnt sure so at the time i went and did it. and i went and did it again in november when i went back to the netherlands for a much smaller rave. druggies can be weird... anyway... is tying the corners acceptable? if not, what should i do? bind the loops to each other with a double clip or something? i never really was sure of if i was doing the right thing, and i know that somebody here certainly will have an answer. i want to proudly display my flag... confidently. oh, and another relevant question. are polyester flags inherently VERY hard to fold? for the life of me, i cannot fold that thing into a nice triangle. it almost cannot be done,or maybe not the almost. i must admit, it still is wadded up inside a large plastic bag from november. i got too frustrated trying to properly fold it and gave up dissatisfied. i guess a sloppy job is better than none... but i cant change the past. only the future...

sorry for a once again excessively long post. thanks if anyone actually read this.

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / liver from a deer... on shrooms?
« on: November 28, 2017, 01:22:43 AM »
so uh... question, since im about sure somebody here would at least sort of know...

i have not taken any drugs other than a tylenol... i havent had a sip in weeks... i am super fucked right now, though. it all came on half an hour after eating half or better of a deer liver.

so the direct question: would a whitetail eat psilocybin containing mushrooms? or anything else that could cause trips? would large servings of liver in general be able to cause such things?

typing is extremely difficult right now. i cannot imagine anywhere else this would have come from other than my overcooked liver. (first time actually keeping a deer liver and not giving it away, so as a result, it was badly overcooked)

sort of weird topic but a serious question because i cannot imagine any other source of this. only other times ive felt anything remotely like this was when i had a very small nibble of a brownie in holland (far less than the amount the reputable coffeshop recommended even for a first timer) and the other when took nyquil as an underweight child. i took less than the normal child dose but i was very, very light at the time. good thing im just sitting at home because i am at all fit to drive and probably would be a spectacle in public. this is weird and i seriously cannot imagine any other source. is it possible that the deer got into shrooms?

Not a big fan of this design style, especially on a rifle the likes of Weatherby. I guess I'm just an old school veteran. Perhaps an American flag inlaid in the butt stock side. Just me. No offense intended. Please delete if inappropriate. Thanks.

so i decided i would quickly slop up a design, just using a few images i found and gimp, to lay them on each other... i think my imagination can do better, but i figured i should share it here!

also, i know firearms and bows are completely different things, but really, we need weatherby archery! i dont know if it will ever happen, but its worth keeping the idea alive! id also really like to see silhouettes again some day.

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / simple, nearly pointless thread.
« on: February 14, 2017, 02:59:30 AM »
nothing much, just that i think people who suggest "it may hurt the value if you want to sell it" are nuts. why would i sell a gun? ;D

"I'm a decorated vet"
"25 shots in 2.5 seconds"

Not only jumping in without even reading the article or even the title, acting all macho and superior, as well as weak and offended, as if those go together.

It's hard to fathom the how these people think. THESE are the people who aren't stable enough to have guns.

I don't understand what he's even in denial of. obviously it's not this simple, but "the one thing that can still a bag guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun".

what good do these people think can come from taking out the good guys with guns? Do they want the hunger games, and a govt like panem?I just can't figure out where their brains  quit on them.

just something incredibly basic i made to put on fb. it doesnt include corrections, or any respect for grammar, simply updates to more modern grouping standards, for those who cant seem to read. "well regulated militia" is only half of it. theyre completely separate, they just happen to be combined into one sentence. at the time, it was probably proper. was american english evena  thing then?

not even much attention to specific detail, and, as always, no grammar except for the primary subject.

its sad, actually pathetic, that people are this upset over something written hundreds of years ago using grammatical conventions that are simply outdated, at worst. it is extremely clear. "the right to carry is necessary for the security of the nation, and also we need a well regulated militia"

the truth can hurt, but only if you want it to; anyone hurt by it deserves pain. (the truth here isnt even that guns are good, its that they are wrong about them and are in some sort of psychopathic denial)

oh yeah and a second thing, which i found on fb a while ago. an ad.

Didn't think to take pictures while the guy had it out for me. Stock has a lot of scratches; some smaller scratches near the end of the barrel as well. I forgot already what the scope brand is. Threads seemed to look ok, but I wasn't really sure what to look for. The scope didn't seem to be scratched at all. If I got this, I'd definitely refinish the stock or maybe replace it. I'll have my dad go look at it and then I'll have a better idea of the condition, because honestly I don't know what to look for. I believe the price was $600.

Thoughts?

for those interested, weatherby posted this on facebook. it doesnt apparently show the load data, so i guess they want you to buy something?
(upon looking further, you need to buy a subscription to see the load data, at least from them.)

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / clowns...
« on: October 10, 2016, 01:02:42 PM »
apparently the clown problem has spread or is starting to spread to australia? i just dont get how or why it actually took off and became big in the first place.

idk how big they are elsewhere but some local clowns have actually supposedly assaulted people and chased children. a local pd issued a warning to stay away from woods and train tracks...

i just dont get why people join in with this shit... i guess it started as a joke as a reference to somebody who dressed up as a clown and killed a bunch of people before halloween? i dont understand how it took off and poeople joined in. i guess im just not stupid enough to relate to that kind of thinking to understand. it would be sort of one thing if people were that damn stupid and joined in with it, but now people are actually becoming dangerous to others and thus themselves. cant wait for one to be shot.

title sums it up. would the custom shop do that? its not in their list of things, but i figured i would ask if any of you happen to know of them having done that before.

i feel like theres more to ask or say but i cant remember so thats it for this post.

« on: August 28, 2016, 11:57:11 AM »
got a scope for my weatherby for my birthday, and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with this scope. it was on sale for $150. they said it has a lifetime no fault, but i couldnt easily find much online. i was told to do some research before opening it, and this my second stop(after quickly searching google and not finding much within the top results. maybe the burris site has some warranty info. i didnt look much yet.).

any input would be appreciated!
