Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Non lead bullets
« on: July 08, 2018, 03:00:41 PM »
When I first read about the lead ban in loony California, I assumed several other states would follow. The science sucks but that has never stopped others .  I saw that and started using  non lead bullets, just to be ahead of the curve that never happened (yet).  I started developing loads using the only option at that time, Barnes.  Once I saw the accuracy I was getting in a bunch of calibers, there was no turning back. Duby convinced me to try the E-Tips. While not as successful for me as the TSX/TTSX bullets in the many calibers, they do work well in a few. Taking a 200lb. hog at 30 some yards proved to me the TSX worked where others disintegrated for the velocity at that range.  Anybody else get stuck using these?   :)

Guess these tropical storms don't know that the season doesn't start for a week.  Hope it's just a rain event! I suppose everybody on the gulf side should keep a eye on this.   :)

It's been raining here all week. I'm under a flood watch till noon tomorrow. The dog has gone into a "sleep through it" mode.  I have been doing a lot of reloading. I have 200 or so 7mm WSM brass I have been working on the last 2 days.   BTW, the mangos on the tree are turning into prunes. :)

I have 150 Speer .355" (9mm) 125gr. soft point bullets that I can't find listed in any of their manuals starting with 15 and going back to 12 for any 9mm. I was intending to load them for my 357 SIG.  I just sent them a email asking about the bullets. I'll see how long it takes them to respond.  :)

Sitting here all day waiting on Fed up to deliver some powder, not here yet!  In particular is CFE Pistol, for loads in 357 SIG.  I keep records on bullets, loaded ammo(my own and factory) for each round I shoot. I do not keep records in my computer on my in stock brass. 700 factory new .357 SIG brass in stock!  I sized, belled and primed 200 today.  Sized and belled another 100!  Brass in stock is my next rainy day project!   ;D

I see Bank of America has decided to take sides in the "Assault Rifle" debate.  They aren't going to loan money to companies that build them.  Idiots!

I have to apologize to people that I have email addresses for.  Facebook has decided to keep a list of said addresses, even if you are not on Facebook. I'll have to assume they have copies of emails sent and received by me.  Go to "settings" and download your info (all the way at the bottom)  Don't take it personal when I tell F B the all American, cover all situations 2 words. I did send a request to Fuckenberg as 2 why they did this, no response. I have  and never had a smart phone. Paranoia is a learned thing!

Looks like some preachers are proposing a semi auto  rifle ban for a  ballot proposal in Oregon. If I read this right, a semi auto rifle with a detachable "clip" will be illegal to buy, same with undescribed "large capacity "clips". If they get enough signatures, it will be on the ballot.  Even if it is 100% against the 2nd amendment, it takes years to get it to the Supreme Court with no guarantees as to it's make up then. Preachers and politicians know exactly what is right and wrong for us all!
