Shotguns / Introducing the 18i Limited
« on: October 12, 2023, 10:30:15 AM »
Hey there Nation.  We have launched several new products this past week.  However, today's launch of the new 18i Limited "small batch" shotgun made me think of the folks on Wby Nation.  The exhibition grade walnut is next level as is the engraving on the receiver.  I was in Italy this past year as we were working on this project and I couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. Thought I would personally let you know...especially all those folks who think all the new "plastic crap" is ugly  :)https://weatherby.com/store/18i-limited/

Nation:

I wanted to let you know that tomorrow we will be launching a new rifle action.  Be sure to check out our website over coffee in the morning to see what we've been up to.  I am quite excited about this new platform and believe it will be a great addition to our Vanguard and Mark V actions that we have had for all these years.  It will fit in between those two actions in regard to price point, and offer some compatibility with aftermarket accessories that will appeal to many people.

I know that many on the Nation appreciate the fine wood, unique design of the Mark V and high velocity Weatherby cartridges.  This new rifle launch does not mean that we will stop designing, building or marketing new things in our existing rifle and cartridge lines.  It simply means we are building upon our past successes and reaching into a new space, much like my grandfather did when he started this company.

I truly am proud of what our team has been able to accomplish since moving to Wyoming 4 years ago.  This new launch is a testament to the hard work by many here in Sheridan.

All the best,

Adam Weatherby

Hello Nation:

I wanted you all to know that the second Wby RPM cartridge is officially released today and data can be found at https://weatherby.com/338-rpm/.  Along with this is the announcement of a 6 lug left handed Mark V! I know some of you have been waiting years for this one.

I hope you are all having a great summer.  I just wanted you to be up to speed with the latest out here in Sheridan.

All the best,

Adam

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Backcountry Hunting Podcast
« on: March 08, 2022, 09:00:27 AM »
Hello Nation:

I am not sure how many of you are podcast listeners, but I wanted to let you know that I recently recorded a podcast with Outdoor Writer, Joseph Von Benedikt, on the "Backcountry Hunting Podcast" (Found on all the main podcast platforms).  We discussed some more details on the new 338 Wby RPM cartridge as well as some of the other new things we have come out with.  I figured some of you might enjoy the listen.

All the best,

Adam

Hello nation:

I wanted to personally let you know that the 338 Wby RPM was officially approved by SAAMI this week.  I've been hunting with it the past couple seasons and its been amazing to have a larger bullet in the 6 lug configuration.  I've brought down elk, moose and bear and its performed quite well.

Due to continued ammunition demand, we won't be releasing any firearms or ammunition until we are more caught up on existing calibers.  I feel the responsibility to service our existing customers but since SAAMI went public with it I wanted to let you all know and let the cat out of the bag.

I know you all have been anticipating the next cartridge and discussing it in length on the Nation.  So, have fun taking it from here...and know one thing...it won't be our last introduction!

Hello Nation.  I see that there are some threads on the upcoming releases.  I encourage you to check weatherby.com on the 3rd to see all the new offerings.  Actually, it will go live just before midnight tonight (the 2nd) if you feeling like staying up late and checking it out.  I can't tell you how excited I am personally about the whole new line up.  Here are a few teasers for you Nation members...

1. All new Mark V's will come with a brand new "creep free" Triggertech trigger built specifically for the Mark V and is adjustable.
2. We have an all-new Accubrake (Accubrake ST) which is a slimline break and one that has more standard threads for suppressors.
3. We have several new models that feature carbon fiber stocks.
4. We have new carbon fiber barrels at a much more competitive price.
5. Our new Backcountry Ti features a Titanium action, carbon fiber stock, patent pending recoil pad, new Accubrake ST, etc... and comes in at under 5 lbs. (Oh and some of you may wonder why no Monte Carlo stock.  We were able to save between 3-4 oz by eliminating the extra material needed).
6. We are launching a new cartridge, the 6.5 Wby RPM (rebated precision magnum).  This new cartridge features our first ever straight walled, rebated rim cartridge.  The whole premise was to maximize the Mark V 6 lug action.  The bottom line is that it allows us to have a sub 5 lb rifle that harnesses magnum performance (1500 ft lbs of energy at 500 yards).  This new cartridge will be great for either the Backcountry or even those that want it in another model for other shooting purposes.  Also, for those of you wanting more cartridge introductions, don't worry...we have more to come over the next couple years  :)
7. Spiral fluted bolts
8. All new pricing (all models are priced to be quite competitive).

With the combination of the Backcountry Ti and the 6.5 Wby RPM we can honestly say that we have achieved the combination of the fastest and lightest rifle at a production price.  This is an example of the innovation you will be seeing from Weatherby in the years to come.  I hope you enjoy the new line up as much as we do!

All the best,

Adam

Hello there Weatherby Nation.  I wanted to personally reach out and share some words with you regarding Weatherby Inc., Weatherby Nation and recent posts on the forum.

When we started Weatherby Nation over a dozen years ago, it was done so for a variety of reasons.  Many of you have joined the Nation community over the years and have been able to meet some great people, receive excellent advice from other members, share stories, and occasionally experience some first hand communication from the folks at Weatherby, Inc.  Needless to say, it's been a great online community for many like minded shooting enthusiasts.

Weatherby Nation started up before things like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter were really around.  Therefore, Weatherby Nation was, at one time, the most logical place for Weatherby, Inc. to make announcements and deliver news to the shooting community and Weatherby customers.  So, for many years, Weatherby, Inc. was fairly active on Weatherby Nation.

Fast forward to 2019…There are now countless online social platforms that are accessible to people.  With Facebook alone, Weatherby had around 60,000 post reaches last week (meaning that our posts appeared on a screen that many times).  As far as engagement, we had over 14,000 engagements with people last week, meaning that people liked or commented on our posts that many times.  I do not tell you this to say that Weatherby Nation is not as important as Facebook.  I tell you this to communicate that a lot has changed since the inception of Weatherby Nation.  There are several social media platforms, like Facebook, that reach a lot of people and have the ability to post photos and videos, share links, and track the necessary data to track its effectiveness.  So, from a business perspective, this is why so many businesses are using things like Facebook to share news and information about themselves as a company.

I do not believe that the rise of social media platforms has made forums like Weatherby Nation any less important.  Rather, I believe it has redefined the purpose of these forums.  For instance, there are many benefits that a platform like Weatherby Nation has that a Facebook does not.  The sharing of information between passionate outdoorsman, shooters, collectors and hunters is what a great forum like Weatherby Nation can be used for.  I, for one, have learned a lot from many of you over the years.  Although I don’t comment a lot, I read through the posts when I get a chance and have enjoyed a lot of the information and personal interaction the forum creates.  So, I do not believe a platform like Facebook has made a site like Weatherby Nation less important…it just has a different role.

At its inception, Weatherby, Inc was active on Weatherby Nation.  However, it now makes a lot more sense to use these other platforms to communicate information and then allow for Weatherby Nation to be a site that creates a space for valuable discussion, advice and stories that help enrichen people’s shooting experiences.  Mutual importance…different purposes.

To be perfectly honest, I have been very disappointed at some of the negative discussions taking place on this forum recently.  I have even received personal vulgar and profane direct messages from Weatherby Nation members.  I would like to challenge the Nation to rise above these conversations and return to the great discussions that have made Weatherby Nation a great community to begin with.  I would like to ask you to erase all preconceived expectations of Weatherby, Inc’s involvement and instead ask you to see Weatherby Nation as a valuable community of people who share similar interests.  If Weatherby Inc, or even me personally, chooses to engage at any time, then hopefully that will add to the forum.  If not, I would hope that the members would help spur each other on toward positive and engaging content and discussion with no more expectations in mind.

Ever since the inception of Weatherby, Inc., my grandfather helped build a “classy business.”  He constantly pushed himself toward innovation and engaged in positive discussions and marketing around the fine products that came as a result.  Quality was always at the forefront of his mind.  Therefore, I would like to make it personally clear that we will no longer tolerate some of the negative discussion that has been taking place.  As long as this forum has my family name on it and is owned and managed by those I employ, I will not tolerate some of the negative behavior that has recently taken place.  Put simply, pages will be removed, as will the members that participate in it.

I do understand that the majority of you probably agree with me.  In fact, you probably join me in growing weary of some of the recent negativity and wish this great site could return to its roots…a great community of passionate Weatherby firearm users who wish to enrichen each others lives.  Unfortunately, it is a probably a loud minority that is ruining it for the rest of you.  My hope is that this message will encourage each and every Nation member to remember why they joined Weatherby Nation in the first place.  I wish I could tell you it would be like the “good old days”, but things take on new roles and meanings as time progresses.  Sure, Weatherby Nation will not be the number one spot anymore for Weatherby, Inc. to announce news.  There are other places that make more sense for that.  However, the Nation can be many things that Facebook may not be to all people. My hope is that it can be a place for people to go to get their questions answered from other like-minded people out there.  I love seeing new people join and start asking questions about the Weatherby firearms they purchased.  Its a great place to go for such things.  I hope that never changes.

In summary, I want to be very clear (maybe even blunt) on several things…
1. Let's keep Weatherby Nation a clean, safe and positive space. There are a lot of trashy and negative forums out there. Weatherby Nation will not be one them.  If you are someone who cannot follow along with this, you will be removed as a member.
2. I will not personally respond when “called out.” That is immature playground behavior and I will not participate, nor will my team.
3. Let's all reset our expectations.  Weatherby Nation was started many years ago and methods of communication change and morph over the years.  No matter what was said or what transpired years ago, the purpose of Weatherby Nation at this time is for members to interact and communicate with each other.  This experience ought to be extremely valuable and I hope that this community continues to grow in its quantity and its quality of members.
4. Weatherby will continue to communicate on various social media channels.  If you want to join them and follow Weatherby, please do.  If not, please don’t.  That choice is up to you and we respect that.  You will find out a lot of things on those channels, as that is their purpose.  Weatherby Nation, on the other hand, is designed to be a place where people can come and have some great online discussions regarding Weatherby firearms, ammunition, ballistics, etc… The different channels serve different purposes.
5. My hope is that the vast majority of you will clearly understand and resonate with this post.  If so, I really believe that Weatherby Nation can once again be a great safe place that will be enjoyed by many.  However, if that vocal minority continues to grow and the negativity and insults persist, I am 100% prepared to pull the plug on Weatherby Nation.  Honestly, it is what my grandfather and father would do as well.  We have always been serious about keeping our name and our products associated with things that bring out the absolute best in people.  Character, integrity, teamwork, passion…these are all things that are at the core of who Weatherby is.  Weatherby is more than a brand name…it is my family name, and I take that very seriously.

Many of you are great ambassadors for the Weatherby brand, and for that I am grateful.  Over the years, many of you have direct messaged me and I have enjoyed getting to know you.  There sure is a good group of people that spend time around the Nation.  I consider many of you friends and hope that this will continue for years to come.

In closing, it sure is an exciting time for Weatherby.  We received 6 semi trucks of equipment and product from California this weekend here in Wyoming.  We will be unloading and installing things in our new building this week as more and more trucks continue to arrive.  We have an incredible team assembled in an incredible space and have some great things on the horizon.  Additionally, our visitor center and showroom will be open after June 13, 2019 and I would love to invite you by to check things out if you are traveling through Northern Wyoming.  Oh, and I attended a northern Wyoming sportsman’s banquet this weekend where a Wyoming Gold Commemorative was auctioned off for $39,000, with the proceeds going toward local wildlife conservation in Wyoming.  There sure is a lot of excitement around here over this relocation.  I just thought you all may enjoy hearing that.

All the best to the Weatherby Nation community as we look forward.

Adam Weatherby

Fellow Nation Members:

Thank you so much for your patience.  I wanted to personally let you know that we will begin shipping 6.5-300 Wby Mag rifles and ammunition within the next week!  The final inspections have been completed and we are now preparing to ship out the first rifles, which will be accompanied by the 127 grain Barnes LRX loads.  The other loads, and unprimed brass, will follow closely behind.  We will be rolling out this information to the public the next few days.  However, I wanted our Nation community to be the first to hear about it.

We will be shipping out rifles and ammunition every week from here on out.  So, although we will start shipping in the next few days, this doesn't mean that every order will be filled immediately. The first shipments will go to those dealers who placed their orders the earliest.

I can't wait to read the stories on Weatherby Nation after many of you get a chance to shoot the new caliber.  I truly believe you won't be disappointed.

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / The Wait Is Over
« on: September 29, 2015, 05:56:50 AM »
Hello Nation:

Some of you may have noticed that I changed my profile pic a few weeks ago on Nation.  The photo of me and the Dall’s Sheep was taken in August in Canada’s Northwest Territories.  The purpose of the trip was to do some “product testing” much like my grandfather did years ago in Africa.  I am happy to inform you that the ram in the photo was the first animal taken with a production 6.5-.300 Weatherby Magnum. Yes, you heard me correctly.  The wait is over and on October 1st we are officially introducing the fastest 6.5mm cartridge in the world!  We heard the “Nation” (and the 38 pages of threads from the .264 Weatherby Magnum post) and have answered.

Not only are we introducing a new cartridge, but we are also releasing “The New Mark V.” Guaranteed to shoot Sub MOA, the New Mark V features a brand new trigger, a hand lapped barrel and an ergonomically enhanced stock.  This release is perhaps our largest upgrade to the Mark V since it’s introduction in 1958.  I know I am biased, but I absolutely love the New Mark V.  I had a lot of time to admire it as I hiked around looking for sheep last month, and I am here to tell you that my father and I are extremely proud of the new Mark V features and believe that all of you on Nation will be as well.

Now that I have your curiosity peaked I am sure there are many questions you have (bullet type, velocities etc…).  You also may be wondering about the Vanguard, of which we have many new models being introduced.  I encourage you to go to www.weatherby.com on October 1st for all the details.  What I can tell you is that the velocities we are seeing out of the 6.5-.300 Wby Mag are over 100fps faster then our nearest competitor.  We mean it when we say “Nothing shoots flatter, hits harder or is more accurate.”  Our family business was found on that principle and we intend to defend that claim as long as we exist.

Your fellow Weatherby Nation member,

Adam Weatherby

PS - The 6.5-.300 Wby Mag will initially be available in the Accumark and Ultra Lightweight first.  We will be in production this fall and will start shipping both rifles and ammo by January 1st, 2015.  Get your order placed with your local dealer soon!

Gentlemen:

I wanted to share a link with you below that will take you to our 2015 products introduced this fall.  These products are not on our website yet but are available to order through your Weatherby Dealer today.  We will be launching a 2015 full catalog with these new products in it in January to celebrate our 70th Anniversary as well.  In the meantime, I thought that the Nation community would appreciate taking a look at some of our new offerings.  Feel free to call our customer service department at any time with questions.  Have a great weekend. - Adam

Other Big Game / Roy's great grandson takes down his first buck
« on: September 22, 2014, 03:03:54 PM »
Hello Weatherby Nation.

I just thought I would share with you some exciting news.  My son (Conner, 12) took his first buck yesterday.  He was hunting all season for a local California buck and Sunday (the last day of the season) he managed to take down a nice fork with his Vanguard Deluxe in .240 Weatherby.  I must admit that seeing the joy in his face surpasses any previous hunting I have ever done.  Here is a link to a picture with Conner, myself and our newly adopted son Kabelo. This buck is the first one taken by the 4th generation of Weatherby's  :) http://instagram.com/p/tOPT0zLryQ/
