Rifles / Largo de caƱon & velocidad .270 wby
« on: September 15, 2021, 11:32:13 AM »
I just got a Mark V, made in Japan, it has a 24 "barrel and the slim barrel has a beautiful wood. It's old.

I am going to reload manual, they believe that with the 24 "barrel I can get closer to the speeds indicated in the manuals, they all handle data with 26" barrels.

I only have IMR 7828. IMR 4831 and Hdy SST 139 gr.

I'll use data from Nosler, or maybe Hornady.

The barrel is not floated, I'm going to frame it, what do you think?

Thanks. . .

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / .270 Wby
« on: August 25, 2021, 02:52:14 PM »
Hi everyone.

After a while I get back on the road.

I have the opportunity to buy a beautiful Wby, made in Japan, with a beautiful wood, it is .270 wby magnum.

I already have wbys. at .257 and .300.

It will be worth it to shoot the deer, what an experience they have.

I want to keep it light with tips of 130 or maximum 140. I do manual reloading.

I appreciate your comments.

Rifles / A question
« on: June 02, 2020, 08:25:46 AM »

Hi.

A question for those who handle .257 wby. Aim the rifles at 200 yards or 300?

I have read that it is better to do it at 300 yds.

The rifle has a swaro of those with a gaduated reticule installed.

The rifle is firing a barrel pacnor, so far I have only fired factory ammunition at 100 gr.

I am starting the search for loads with tips of 100 gr, partition and with 115 BT. you may also try 110 accu. of the latter I have very little existence.

Thanks for your reply.

Reloading / Searching Load for .300 Wby
« on: April 29, 2020, 06:39:47 PM »
Hello everyone:

I got an old German .300 wby, with a thin 24 "barrel, it had a factory muzzle brake, after a good cleaning I got an acceptable group with 7828 and 165 Hdy sst (attached photo).

The barrel heated up after 3 shots, I got a shilen select match grade barrel and changed it, the length was 27 "and I installed another muzzle brake.

I am starting the search for loads, I have Accubon LR tips of 190 gr and Nosler Ballstic Tip of 180 gr.

I have IMR 7828SSC eIMR 4831 powder.

The 7828 has worked well for my .257 wby. also for the .280 AI

At the moment install a synthetic stock, I am repairing the wood, I will finish it with oil.

I appreciate your tips for recharging.

Ammo / .257 Wby, Bullet 85 gr for deer?
« on: April 05, 2019, 12:25:56 PM »

Hello

Do you think that the tips of 85 gr are enough to charge a white tail deer? Will it reach a mule deer?

With a custom rifle I have hunted deer with .257 with tips of 117 gr. but not with 85 gr tips?

Now I'm looking for a load for a Mrk V Ultralight that I'm debuting

On the other hand, I am initiating the rehabilitation of a German Mark V in .300 wby, I will fix the shiny varnish, I will change it to an oil and wax finish, also a load with tips of 165 or 180 gr.

I appreciate your comments.
