Sorry can't help you with reloading 25-06 but I do use, with great results, Winchester 90 grain Positive Expansion Points factory ammo.

DW5
Good luck on the hunt with your dad, you both must be off the wall excited. The .240 sounds like a winner.
Any thought of bringing the .270 WSM just to mix things up.

I would guess that at the speed the 6.5-300 generates a Barnes, Hornady GMX, Winchester E-Tip type bullet would be a better choice to withstand the speed.......IMO
Welcome to the nation, you have come to the right place to gain knowledge. These guy are a wealth of information

That is some seriously good shooting DW5, looks like the .257 is dialed in

Are you sure you didn't use your .257 Mag Roger....the little .204 vaporized those dogs.
Thanks for bringing us along on your trip

Think of it like this the larger case/chamber needs more powder (larger case) to get the same pressure a (smaller case) does.

Great explanation purplefox.
I am not a reloader so when you folks get into a discussion about reloading I find myself scratching my head.....lol
I plan to get into reloading when I retire in a few years so maybe by then I will be able to chime in...
Until then I will continue to enjoy your threads and learn

I wonder how many staff will be making the trip and how many new hires they will have to take on. This must be a very stressful time for the Weatherby family and there staff.
I wish them well....
Thanks for the update Roger

My grandfather fought in France and Italy and was wounded twice. Once with a bullet through his elbow and second was shrapnel from a hand grenade.
When he got home after the war grandpa told all of the kids "you can ask me one question each about the war and then I will never talk about it again" dad said he was a man of his word and never spoke of it again.

This might be one you would want to check out by what you described.https://www.cabelas.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=753522&type=product&WT.z_btnclk=YMAN-753522&WT.z_pg_ref=prd753522

I have the Vortex Diamond Back on my 270 WSM and it is a great scope, I would highly recommend it.

Good info Roger
