Bob, Thanks for getting back to us and Welcome to the Nation. Glad they fixed the problem. Weatherby is first class in customer service, even during their move.

Your friend will be happy with the Vanguard. They are excellent rifles, especially for the money.
+ 1  Buy it

+2, buy it. I have 2 Vanguards and 2 Mark Vs and they all shoot lights out.

Hello Juan, those firebreaks look exactly like the one where I hunt here in Minnesota!!! Stay Safe my southern friend!!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong please. I don't think Weatherby does #1 barrels anymore. Their #2 is standard and their #3 is their H-Bar (Heavy). Weatherby seems to have their own contour designations.

They do offer #1 contours in the ULW, probably in other models too?

Reloading / Re: Reloading for weatherbys

Thanks guys I've got some of the factory 110 accubonds to shot through it first to just get a feel for the rifle then experimenting some, planning a antelope trip for 2019 and hope I can get comfortable enough with the gun to take it along with me.

My Accuguard in 257 Weatherby shoots lights out with the 110 Accubonds, I'd be shocked if your not using yours for your prairie goat hunt next year!! Keep us informed on your progress.

Looks like another Nation member is a believer in BTE. There are a lot of other Nation members who swear by this stuff as the best way to get rid of copper build up.

+1, and an added benefit is it does not stink up the house!!!

Flying Carp-kill them all.

Reloading / Re: 6.5-300 Reloading Data
« on: December 10, 2018, 04:58:10 PM »
Long time lurker, first time poster....and first time Weatherby owner.  I just added a 6.5-300 Mark V to the stable and will start experimenting with some loads once she's broken in.  I've compiled every (limited) bit of reloading data I could get on this round but hoping to keep this thread going with updated info.  Some of the powders and bullets I will initially play around with include:

IMR 7977

Nosler 120 Etip
Nosler 140 AB
Nosler 142 ABLR
Hornady ELD-X

Anyone have any pet loads worked up yet (not already listed)?  Do the Mark V's seem to have a preference one way or another on seating depth (SAAMI specs or longer)?  I'll update as I have data of my own worth sharing...

Silverbulletmag if you use the search function, you will find a bunch of threads on reloading the 6.5-300 here. Welcome to the Nation!!!

Sounds like you filled a lot of needs and then some. I've bought several firearms at the Scheels in StCloud, including my ULW 6.5-300. Always pleasent and well informed staff at that store, I'll probably shop there a lot more since Cabelas has been ruined by Bass Pro.
