My profile says 2014 but I'm on my third ID since there has been some problems with the web page host over the years and each time my info was lost and unrecoverable. Each time I would have to rejoin the forum. We also had a photo album that was lost with one of the changes. The last time I talked with Dubyum he was over on the European Weatherby web site. We had a full time moderator who was always part of the discussions back then. Ed used to visit every now and then and join in with the discussion.
I think Grouchy has been here forever. :o

Sub sonic ammo is usually very quiet but I would still wear hearing protection since the .22 rim fire is responsible for more hearing probable than any other cartridge. It has a very high pitch frequency that is hard for humans to detect, I would still wear hearing protection while shooting it.
I used a different brand just yesterday to make my first groundhog kill of the season.

I worked out of the Port of Baltimore along with Norfolk so there is other options available plus there is New Jersy and Delaware to consider and not sure about Philadelphia. Trains carry containers from ship ports to inland ports where the containers are loaded onto trucks so yeah there are other options.
Coal coming out of WV, PA and MD goes out from Baltimore and the coal yard is located at the eastern entrance to the harbor tunnel.
I've seen that coal pile go from none to full overnight and disappear just as fast.

I suppose we will never know how or why 6 of the 20 people working on that bridge died. It turns out that there is a billion-dollar insurance policy on that bridge. The ship's insurance is another subject.  The last times I drove to Maine was from Ocean City, taking US13 to the Delaware Memorial bridge on I-95, bypassing Baltimore. My ex SIL was stationed at Brunswick NAS.  Friends in Md. were heading to see their daughter and SIL in Conn. today but put off the drive with the news of the bridge.
There are other routes then I-95 to get from Florida to the northeast. I would take I-95 into South Carolina and pick up I-77 north to I-81 north to Scranton and get off on I-84 east which will link back up with I-95 outside of Boston or you could get on I-80 off I-81 at the split north of Harrisburg and run that into Jersy.
Just pick your poison. I-95 threw North Carolina to Boston is a death trap and an accident waiting to happen.
I didn't know that they stopped trucks from using the New Harbor tunnel in Baltimore, the old two-way tunnel maybe but not sure about that either since I tried not to use either, but I have hauled millions of gallons of #2 heating oil and diesel threw both when working for Hahn Transportation. God only knows how much sugar out of Domino Sugar also.

Sad story with loss of life. There shouldn't have been any loss of life since the ship Notified authorities it was going to hit the bridge well in advance and the workers should have been told to get off the bridge before the crash. So far there is believed to be 6 people killed.
As for crossing it I have know idea how many times I've crossed that bridge in a truck or a car since it opened in the 1977.
It just amazes me that something that took years to build was destroyed in 30 seconds with out using explosives.

Got too many options , but the 1911 .45acp would be my carry and a 12ga 1300 riot gun loaded with buck and ball would be near by along with my Korean police action M1 carbine with 30rd magazine.
If I was in Florida I would have signs posted LOOTERS MAKE GOOD GATOR BAIT LOOK OUT FOR MY PET GATOR!!!
CLAYMOR MINES IN YARD. :o ;D

The mango trees are in full bloom here. The fruit usually shows up late April till mid May. A tree fresh mango in the blender with some ice and some vodka is great!  ;D
Yep it's spring here. 3 more inches of the white stuff. helps build up the water table.

The Speer Hot Core will expand and put the smack on thin skinned animals and seem to penetrate fairly well. If you hit a bone you will lose a lot of meat.
If you want a boat tail bullet you will have to choose a different brand, the Hot Cores are flat based, but don't let that be a deciding point on purchasing because the ones I have used can be made to shoot accurately.

Careful what you say or you may just get to do it with the way the world is going. I got tired of shoveling it also and that's why I bought a small tractor with a loader. ;D

Don't know much about Jeans since I gave up wearing them when I found Dickies was more comfortable, warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer. I do have Carhart and Wrangler jeans in the closet but they seldom get worn and I should donate them to clear space.
I have found that Levi jeans are heavier than Wrangler which could be why they wear longer as the Carhart's do. I do like the Wrangler long sleeve shirts but find the denim is heavier than the kaki.

I have a small history with the .338 cal, 2 of which are the .338 Wm, one was a Ruger M77 Hawkeye all weather which I got off GB with a low ball I didn't want it bid. No one had bid on it and it had been listed multiple times, I placed a last minute minimum bid and won it.
I already had my 35Whelen AI and really didn't need it or want it. The 35 Ackely will produce the same muzzle energy as a 375 H&H and is faster than the .338Wm.
The Ruger had issues and probably is why it was on GB. A new stock with a full bedding block and a few rounds of fire lapping cleaned it up and settled it down, it thought it was a sniper rifle after the fire lapping and cleaned up easier.
I sold it after hunting with it in Montana, it was too heavy to carry.
I did like the .338Wm cartridge and found a M70 classic for sell on the Fire and after some haggling I bought it for less than I got for the Ruger M77 which I made money on even after all the work I did to it, plus it shoots as well or better with the right ammo.
The 35 Whelen Ackely is a custom barrel job on an older M70 CRPF action that shoots like a lazer.
The first White Tail I killed with this rifle I had to take a Texas heart shot or let it go but it was the last day of the season and I was hungry. I had some left over 225gr Nosler PTs load up at over 2900fps and took the shot in a heavy thicket, held on the top of the tail hoping to hit the neck or the spine just above the tail. The bullet struck the spine and literally split the deer in half.
The old saying of eating up to the bullet hole of a 35 Whelen held true since there was no blood shot meat to be cut away.
Got to love the medium bores.

15 degrees here this morning and never got out of the 20's all day glad we didn't have the wind they predicted. But they are calling for more snow tomorrow.
