Great to hear that. It's nice that Weatherby is not going to discontinue manufacturing 240 Mag. rifles. ;D I would hate to see it go the way of the 224 Mag. :'(

At one time I had a Mark V Stainless in 270 Weatherby Mag and also one in 7MM Weatherby Mag. I still have the 7MM. The 270 is gone. The performance of the two was very close but IMO the 7MM is more versatile. I don't really miss the 270 that much. ;D

I like the 240 Magnum just the way it is. It was the last cartridge of the Weatherby line of Magnums designed by Roy Weatherby himself ! 8)

I have a 300 Weatherby. I can't see the added expense of the 30-378. I have no desire to add one. The 300 is just fine IMO.

I have a Mark V Stainless in 257 Weatherby. I also have one in 300 and 340. For a two rifle battery I would pair the 257 Mag. with the 340 Mag. For one rifle I would just buy the 300. :)

I love my Mark V Lightweight/Stainless 240 Weatherby Mag. Your right about the weight. It's much lighter than it's big brothers. I have killed several deer over the years with it. It's one of my favorite rifles. ;D

How about a 22 cal. Weatherby cartridge based on a necked down and shortened 240 Weatherby Mag? Or maybe base it on the full length 240. Would most likely take out the 220 Swift as the 22 caliber velocity champ. ;D        I also like the idea of a 6.5mm Weatherby Magnum either based on the 257 or the full length 300 case.

It has a #1 contour 24" barrel. It weighs in the neighborhood of 6 to 6 1/4 pounds. I carry it all day without fatigue. It is one of my favorite rifles! ;D

Did Weatherby Inc. stop chambering the 240 Weatherby Mag? I see they don't even list it as available in the Deluxe. I have the older Mark V Lightweight/Stainless version. Great rifle and cartridge.

The shortest shot I ever made on a Deer was here in Pa in 2000.I killed a Doe at 5 or 6 yards with my Mark V Lightweight/Stainless in 240 Weatherby Mag. Needless to say she went right down! ;D

The longest shot I have ever made on a Deer was here in Pennsylvania in 1998. I was overlooking a long field when my chance came. Killed the Deer with my own handloaded 150gr. Nosler Bal-Tip at 419 measured yards with one shot out of my Mark V Stainless in 7MM Weatherby Mag. To this day it's the best shot I have made! ;D

My two favorites are my Mark V  Lightweight/Stainless in 240 Weatherby Mag. and my Mark V Stainless in 340 Weatherby Mag. Both accurate rifles. I have killed several Whitetails with the 240. Never required more than one shot on any of them. ;D
