Wow Ron Thanks All good stuff. And I will locate some Hornady 50 gr. flat base bullets &  wolf primers I think I have remington and cci and I will do this test sounds Like A real time saver and get some good data all at the same time. Here in MI its sight in days at my club for the big Nov.15th deer opener so by thanksgiving I will post some targets if any are worth A hoot. and I think your right I should find something thats stands out. Then I will have to deside if I want to tip my hand in dec. or wait till next march when varmint leauge starts. Cause I think were going to raise the bar A mite.

Thanks Zonie
Your right to give it A fair shake I will have to do some tinkering for shure. I think I will start with the last of my H335 the book load in Nosler #5 says its the most accurate load But it sure wasnt in my last 223 wich was A 700 BDL Std. barrel.then sence both you and chip like ths BLC-2 I will give it A try. I read it is A dirty powder. But it cant be anyworse than RL-15 I have A pile of patches when Im done cleaning my 22-250. I actualy thought hoppe and outers came up with patches that dont pick up dirt as well just to sell more. As I allways buy 22 size patches to hard to cut.

By the Grace Of GOD I have it. Many years ago A Freind sold and traded me A 1948 model 70 in 375 H & H it needed A new stock and I never found one. Then I was in need of money and sold it to Williams Gun Site. I later looked to buy another but couldnt find one. then one day I was at williams and there it was back on the rack I bought it on site. Then along came E-bay And I found an Original stock in no time. It is now ready for my Dream hunt An African Cape Buffalo.

I will keep an eye open for A 722 in 222 am I hereing you right that the 222 is apples for apples is more acurate than the 223?   I did just look up that are club is having An Angel Tree Christmas Shoot for all dissaplens Dec. 11th That will let me see how The VSL in 223 shoots and if I need to go any further with the Rifle end. And it comes with A hiddous Millette 4.5-16 target Scope you know the one with the anti aircraft Turret dials on it. Sorry if anyone owns one ( Looks good on your Rifle ) lol  I was just going to ebay it before I did anything else but I will dial it in for this shoot. And see what the Rifle does. and that will give me the winter to make A Scope Choice Providing the Rifle Does what im Banking on.

Wow so much good advice. I wish I knew of this web site before I bought the VLS and zonie and chip u hit it on the head it realy is A one purpose rifle and I do love this compitition.and no joke chip I wasl looking for A 722 in 222 because the 700 BDL Varmint is no longer made and they go like hot cakes on gun broker. I am lucky to live close to williams gun site and guns galore both have about A thousand rifles in stock new and used. But I jumped at the VLS when I seen it. And I guess A fixed power scope isint all that bad of an idea if it truly is A one purpose rifle. Trouble is I would like it to be A loner for freinds who dont own A varmint rifle but want to go with me as I like to have A buddy when calling in varmints. Your 222 chip is A beauty is it A 1 in 12 twist. I have wrote down the bullet and powder and will give it A try.

Hey Zonie
its 25 to 30 grown Men laying on the bellys you can use A bi pod or front and rear rest. The guys to beat both shoot A savage belive it or not. and I think 25 power scopes. And yes A couple useĀ  .308 wich helps them score with the larger hole but they do have more recoil as well. But most shoot .223 with bull barrels and theĀ  ar's do suprizingly well allso. PS its all at 100 yards just small varmint targets one you have to hit A fox in the head he is souronded by hounds hit A dog and losse 10 points.

I would have to say that is still the bullet that all others are compared to. So I guess it is the benchmark of preimum bullets. I have never recovered one but have used them on black bear and they sure did there job. On the other hand I loaded A 30 cal. 200 grain throphy bonded bear claw for my boss who shot A polar bear with it out of A 300 Win Mag it lodged in the skin on the far side and it weighed 194 with A perfect mushroom. That was impresive. I would love to see some results with the new Nickle polmere tip bearclaws. The orginal ones made in texas were 2 dollars A slug but worth it.

I Shoot In A Varmint League from march thru oct. The past 2 years I have been using my coyote Rifle A 700 LVSF 22-250 with A 4-12 even with reduced loads I realy couldnt compete my barrel heates up after 10 shots and then I had to add lib buy holding accordingly. I have bought A 700 VLS with A 26" heavy Barrel in 223 that should help with the barrel Heating up. I am looking at the Leupold VX-II 6-18X40 Scope. The Format is 20 Shots for Score at 4 targets in 30 mins. with unlimited sighters. My Question Is am I better off with the Target model and make addjustments on the fly during the shoot. Or the hunting model and just addjust my hold like I have been doing.

Hi Eman
I see you didnt have A 300 listed in your gun rack So are you looking to buy A 300 for this hunt? If so and you mostly hunt black tail. I think you would be better served with A little less gun. But if you do have one I think you have heard several good pices of advice to make it work well. But as A whole Ideal Pronghorn cartriges range from 243 thru 7mm Mag. including the 257 weatherby. I thru that in cuz its there site. lol

Thanks Again Corey And Husky
I think 500 is A realistic limit I live in MI. so I would only use my 300 for Bear here. And have only shot over 200 twice in my life both out of state. A pronghorn in Wy at A paced 212 And A caribou in Quebec that was on the other side of A freshly frozen lake that I was more worried about falling thru than counting steps lol. I am just trying to put together A good out west rig for Elk and Mule deer. So 500 is about All I would deam realistic. And of course hope my shot is half that. But if that throphy of A lifetime is 500 I want to be able to try the shot with confidence or theres no point.
