Sparrow spookers are basically scare crows for other birds. Foil ribbons that you hang just to the top of the bird house. You put them up after the first egg is layer. And they work great.

I had never seen a baby bird fly away for the first time until today. I got to watch 3 bluebirds take flight from there bird house.
I have only lived in bluebird country for the last 5 years and started putting up houses for the. Only to learn that the English sparrow is a bitter enemy. And last year watched from my window them kill the baby bluebirds in seconds.
This year I was ready with pellet gun until the first egg was layer then I put up sparrow spookers that worked like a charm.
I can finally rest easy now that they flew off . I was 2 months of work but well worth it.

257 or 375 ?
For my displays I needed 257 and I had to reach out for help from a member here on the Nation who came to my rescue.
But I'm looking for some 375 wby my self. Just need 2 and 2 - 416 that I crunched making dummy rounds that 416 is the only one that gave me trouble. I had to chamfer the bottom of the the bullets.

I agree with you too Tex. I guess what gets my goat the most is the new calibers that don't have A prayer and then some poor guy has A rifle that he better have reloading components for. Or it's useless. And it shouldn't bother me because I'm not going to buy it. I have never understood why companies probably know that going in and would tool up to produce A rifle. Make what they can from it then off to the next Hot New Flash in the pan. But that's business.
Again I'm so old school. I sometimes make myself sick.
But I do love the book one man one land one Rifle. Shot everything in north America with A 30-06

That's what I'm driving at. It's hard enough to get ammo for proven existing calibers that we already own. And then they come out with something new that they have to make ammo for to sell the rifles. Which puts the ammo people are looking for for Rifles they have owned for years. Further on the back burner. It's the same old thing over and over. And most of these new calibers go by the way side in 5 years.
We already have A dozen 300 Magnums and A dozen 7mm Magnums. The 338 and 375 are inching there way up there too. It's obvious I'm old school and don't like change. But imbrace change when it's really A game changer.
I just don't think this 370 sako is A game changer and just clogs up A already clogged up market. Not to mention it doesn't meet the minimum bore Dia. Of most African countries. Further limiting its uses.

I thought this was another new not needed caliber. Turns out it's been around for 20 years under the 9.33x66 mm head stamp. Sako has Amercanized it because we tend not to like metric calibers save the 7mm and 6.5 A quote from the article. I apologize that I don't know how to copy and paste the article. I have to sit down and learn.
But in the End my take is it can't do anything the 375 h & h can't do. So why bother when we can't even keep 375 ammo on the shelf.

I finally made up my mind on which one to buy.
I went with the Eberlestock Recon. I had never used anything Molle before but once I seen how it worked on there system. That's when I went with them. With all the junk I use to hunt deer this pack should make my life on stand much easier. Binos / Range Finder / Phone and Pistol all on my chest. And not having to remember which pocket has which will be very helpful.
I think I'm going to love this thing.

Stocks and weight definitely mean alot. One problem I have at my club is the benches are all the same. I bring pads and even boat cushions to get my body at the right height for my shooting rest. I have had to shoot Magnums with a poor seat to my shoulder. And that can be a painful session.
I think I'm going to get one of these BOG death grips and stand up for a perfect fit. Plus I have always heard standing is much easier on felt recoil.

Nice chart But I disagree with the 375 h & h vs the 340 Weatherby. I have shot them back to back many times. And the 340 is A Harder and Faster Kick with max loads of 300 gr. in the 375 and 250 gr. in the 340 .
I have never shot 200 gr. In my 300 wby. But that seems about right compared to the 340 wby.
I shoot 180 gr. In my 300 wby and it's A pop gun compared to the 340 wby.
