A friend and I have been pondering going out "west" again (we live in NC and MD respectively) but the cost has gotten silly expensive. Fortunately we enjoyed our mule deer/elk/pronghorn hunting years ago when prices were manageable for the working man. So, you don't have to worry about us hunting west of the Mississippi anymore.
A few years back I had the opportunity to invest in a 70 acre tract of cutover land that joins mine that gives me a total of about a 100 acres to play on. Cost was less than $500 an acre and it was the best investment I ever made. Now it has a 900 yard rifle range with steel and paper targets, several deer stands, a duck blind, and even wild turkeys.
And what about the prices of land out there? Geez! And a lot of it, as my crazy farmer uncle used to say..."wouldn't raise a hard on".
Good luck guys, enjoy it while you still can afford it, or not. LOL!
