I think the first is young and even at 13 points will be low to mid 130's.He will lose a lot of mass with velvet cleaned up and the split eye guards don't add much to the total. It is hard for an 8 point to be in the 140's unless a lot of mass and long tines. If a nine point you'll get 2 more adds and could put him low 140's.

This is pretty much where I was at with it. Hope the next 80 days or so shows me a few more nice ones!

Hope they don't break off any points while they're still in velvet :(.

Me too!!!

To me- the second one is I think a 9pt (my pic is a little clearer than the Nation will allow me to post), think he has a 4th point on his left side. Sure looks like an older buck to me as well with that sagging belly. Velvet always tricks me a lot but he looks outside his ears and to have some mass. I’m not a great on the hoof scorer by any stretch but maybe somewhere in the mid 140’s range??

The first one- I have no clue? Pic may be deceiving but I I just can’t get a good handle on mass or spread and then throw in the split brows and what seems to be 5 on one side with an almost club for the G2… beats me!!

Wow! Four tags this year, congrats!

Where do you think they will end up?

Congratulations!

Thanks DW
I will check that out. Looking for A night time Scope for Coyotes. Probably for my AR
The one I seen On tv was $ 7000
Needless to say I was not interested.

Must have been a quality thermal optic. They can easily get 10K plus. Pulsar and few other brands make great thermals for thousands cheaper though.

While digital night vision doesn’t do all a good thermal does, for 90% of hunters, myself included, I think DNV fits the bill nicely. DNV is WAY WAY cheaper than thermal. Sightmark is by far the best DNV I have personally used and both their Wraith and Photon lines come in around 500 bucks. I dig the Wraith these days just because it has full daytime functionality. I did hunt for years very successfully with Photons though, even in the daytime.

That’s impressive! Zero recoil

The Wraith is more compact than other night vision scopes that I've had or held but it weighs a bit. Somewhere in the 35oz range. With the Weathermark already being a moderately weighted rifle, the added weight of the scope really takes a lot of the recoil out of the .257.

Nice shooting DW ;). IIRC, seems the last few hogs have been taken with neck shots and recovery has been no problem.

You are correct sir, not hard to find them when they fall where they stand!

I'd assume the stair stepper at the gym might be as important as the rifle range for this hunt! good luck to both y'all and and sure do hope to see some pic's of a successful hunt!

She’s working on her steps, I currently do 3 to 8 miles a day, yes there will be pictures

What a special tag! Happy for y’all, and hope y’all have a blast. Also hope the build up for the hunt is a ton of fun and excitement as well.

Ran a Sightmark Photon For a long time and still have it. Still really like it. Running a Sightmark Wraith 4-32 at the moment. I’m a real big fan. I really like the daytime mode option on the Wraith.

Edible?  :)

Probably so. The diet of the pigs up there are quite a bit different than they were down in the hill country. He didn’t have a smell or anything when I walked up on him.

I remember the first time I ever shot a deer rifle. Was “practicing” for my upcoming hunt. My dad went and tacked up a piece of paper he had cut, probably more or less a pie plate, and said I would be good when I could “hit around the center” three times.

Was shooting a borrowed .243win. A Remington rifle if I remember correctly. Target was probably 80-100 yards away.
