Montana Elk Hunting 2013

My very first elk hunt is a hunt i will never forget, I have shared so many memories with my family that i hope to pass on. This hunt was by far the hardest hunt i have ever been on in my life, for the 10 days i hunted i walked over 10 miles each day, but it just got me pumped up to shoot a big bull!! My rifle of choice was .270 wby mag ultralight weight, 150 grain nosler partition. The first 4 days was 60 degrees and the last 4 days was 10 degrees which was perfect hunting. I was walking out to a rock called "Waldos Rock" named after my grandpa and came across this 358 class bull. I am so glad to have shared these memories with my dad, uncle, and grandpa and hop to share more in the future!!!

I still love hunting with family at 47. Those are the memories I cherish most and if it's as successful as yours it's even better. Congratulations.

It is very fitting that you got your first elk on your way to a rock named after your grandfather. Good job on a well deserved harvest. Hunting hard is loads of fun when it pays off and it is a nice way to pay homage to those hunters who paved a way for us and were good enough to pass on their skills and teach us.

Reminds me of of my father originally from Montana and later moving to Oregon in the 30's and hunting a ridge named after him by his elk hunting buddies Red's ridge. Haven't been up there for a long time. Good memories and what a great hunt for you.

Very Nice Bull Congrats.
That is my perfect idea of Elk hunting posting up high. And letting the 300 Wby. go to work.
