Custom bolt?

I have a weatherby vanguard and it was the first rifle I ever bought at the age of 12. I have shot many animals with it but now it is time to upgrade the gun for a upcoming mountian goat hunt. I would like a custom bolt for it but as I have heard unless you are the ultamate machinist and build your own it is almost impossible to get one is this true?

Why would you want a new bolt ?  If you lost one that's one thing, but to get a bolt just to get a bolt I don't get it.

Coyotekid, did you ever find someone to work on your bolt? I'm finding the same problem. I want to have a longer tactical style knob put on my MkV but can find no one that will do the work. Everything I have found advertised is for the Rem700

Yea I sent the custom shop an email and they said they don't offer it as a stand alone item at this time and its exclusive to the TRR. Just finding it hard to find a smith that works on the MkV. It's all mostly Rem700 and its clones that I have found.

Straight Shooter Supply in North Bend Oregon are Weatherby MKV specialists.  It's a household name on Kodiak Island.  They will put any knob you want on a Mark 5 bolt or Vanguard.
