Got it done in Indiana with my bow!
« on: November 11, 2014, 05:36:42 PM »
It wasn't the big one that I have seen several times but it is the deadest one in my garage! I shot him at 5:15pm today at little less than 20 yards away in my ground blind. I was using my Hoyt Factor 30 with FMJ's and 2" Grim Reaper. Lots of blood and me maybe went 40 yards.
I had him run right by my blind earlier in the day but he was running after a doe. Then I watched him chase 5 does across a pretty big field towards uncut corn. I though that was the last I would see of him today. Then around 5:14 (I was checking my phone at the time) I thought I heard something and looked up and saw a squirrel where the sound came from and didn't think much of it. I was planning my exit from the woods in about 40 minutes and thinking I was going to wait till gun season opened this weekend. Looked up and he was 20 yards away checking sent wicks I had put up and sprayed. I drew once but couldn't get a shot, then drew my bow again aim my bow out of my last opened window. He stopped, I shot, he moved forward a tad at the shot. I got pretty lucky but he was dead in no time at all, maybe 7 seconds  from shot to death.
He took off like a bat out of hell but slowed pretty fast got drunk legged and collapse. I got really lucky because he moved forward at the shot and still did a number on the very back part of his lungs.
Nice not have to track them. If any one wants a picture of him PM me your email or cell and I will send you a picture or two of him.
And no I didn't carry this one on my back to my truck!

He was well over 200 pounds. I should of had him weighed. They were chasing pretty hard that day. He wasn't the biggest one out there, from a ground blind he looked pretty good size.

Taking a nice deer with a bow is a rush un comparable to one taken with a firearm!  Very Nice!  :)
