They are a great choice.
This is them on my VGII Sporter.
These are the low rings - the scope is a Burris E1 3-9X40, and while as you can see the lows "work", if I did it again I would go with medium rings just to give a little more clearance at the rear of the receiver. In the pic you can see that I'm a hair away from the mount interfering with the power ring. I did get sufficient eye relief, but just and scope "could have" gone ahead a bit more if not for the mount being in the way.
I did go with the low mounts because they worked fine on an earlier install. This is my VGII Synthetic with a Redfield 3-9X42 on it. There was no interference with the zoom ring and with a flip cap on there was just a hair between the objective and the barrel. I figured the 40mm Burris would fit almost perfectly, but alas, no scopes are the same
