This is my first post, glad to be here.

I'm a lifelong Weatherby fan. I received my Vanguard Backcountry two weeks ago, sighted it in last week and was able to hammer this big boy last night right at dark.  I was turkey hunting our lease in Lampassas. Once the turkeys went to roost I traded my bow for my rifle and climbed up in one of the stands the hogs have been hitting. At the last bit of light, three hogs entered the pasture coming straight at the stand.  I shot  this boar right below the left eye (meat is the whole point right?) the 85 grain Barnes TSX ended up somewhere in the spine between the shoulder blades.  The shot was about 80 yards, incredible bullet performance out of the .240

Awesome picture and welcome to the Nation!  I also see you wearing the new Badlands cammo patter.  How do you like it?

Thanks PARA45.  The new Approach Camo from Badlands is really effective in a multitude of environments.  I was really looking forward to using it on my early season high country archery mule deer hunts but was pleasantly surprised as to how well it works in the Texas brush also.   The new pants and shirts from Badlands are great too.

Nice kill and welcome to the Nation. Sounds like your rifle and ammo worked flawlessly.
"The shot of the century" June 27th 1874, Billy Dixon shot an Indian standing beside Chief Quanna Parker from "about a mile away" ending the 2nd Battle of Adobe Walls
The shot was made with a borrowed Sharps 50-90. He didnt think his own 45-90 Sharps had the range.

If it cant be killed with a Weatherby, you may want to just leave it alone!
