went out one morning got to a good spot, rut was in full swing. I seen a doe, she winded me took off running watching her never noticed a nice mature buck coming up on her, well he winded me, and gone flat out, made the thick timber. Leaving disappointed walking back to the truck this guy shows up i thought i have a draw for him and here he is.

Just goes to show, even when you've left the primary hunting area, going back to the truck or campsite can be an adventure. Congrats on your surprise moose.

Isnt it great when you find that unexpected silver lining!!
Nice moose! Sounds like your hunting a good area.
"The shot of the century" June 27th 1874, Billy Dixon shot an Indian standing beside Chief Quanna Parker from "about a mile away" ending the 2nd Battle of Adobe Walls
The shot was made with a borrowed Sharps 50-90. He didnt think his own 45-90 Sharps had the range.

Within a 20 mile radius of that guy there is 4 160 class Whitetails, if no one else gets them.
