Price drop-Pre Mark V Southgate .300 Weatherby for sale.

This gun was built in 1954 on a FN action.  Low 31XX serial number. I am the second owner. I bought it in 2009 from the original owners family. When I received it it had a busted stock. In the box with it was a receipt from 1986 from when they tried having the stock repaired. I replaced the stock with a Richards micro fit dual grip thumbhole with ebony tip and cap. I also had the stock glass bedded. This is by far the smoothest action I have ever felt. Blueing is great with a mirror finish. I am selling only because I would like a nice 20 gauge over under and with 4 kids I need to sell something to buy something and this is the only gun in my safe I dont use. 

Leupold base and rings included. Gun will ship FFL to FFL. I will also throw it in a hard case so it makes it safely.

Right now there is a Pre Mark V Southgate in .300 Wby with the original Weatherby mounts and Weatherby scope, plus a really nice looking original stock for $1000 on Gunbroker. Im not in the market for another .300 Wby,  but if I were making a choice, id go with the original furniture hands down. Plus, original mounts AND Weatherby scope...not trying to pee in your Wheaties, but, if I checked zgunbroker, you can bet others are going to do comparing

Wow ok. Thanks for the heads up. I guess its been a while since I looked at what these were worth. I was told years ago when I first bought it by a gunsmith it was worth about $1500. If someone thinks my price is out of line feel free to make me an offer. I will do some digging and adjust my price. Thanks

Well this sure is a kick to the...

Here I have been thinking all these years I could get at least $1300-1400 for it. I need to think about how low I am willing to go before I just decide to keep it.

All i ever shot out of it was Rem core lokt 180's. About an inch and 100. Never shot it any further. It came with some boxes of the old old weatherby ammo but never shot any of it. I bought dies for it also but never used them. I'd say in the time I've owned it I've shot less than 40 rounds.  I just have no need for a rifle of this caliber. Most of my hunting is done in shotgun only zones.

I'll add those old boxes of ammo with the rifle since I won't need them.

I get that the stock not being original hurts the collector value but I thought someone would be interested. Are these more common than I thought?

03, does this rifle have the 1:12 twist barrel?  Many of that vintage do.
