Hunt will be September 1 in Northome, Mn. with Lindley's Guide service. I think you can guess which guide I requested in the picture below. 8)

Congratulations Roger!!! Between you and Chris there should be some nice Black Bear photos. I see the guide service is based out of Northome which isn't to far from Bowstring lake where I started deer hunting in 1965.

Congrats Roger! Will you be hunting over bait, or spot and stalk and how many days will you be there?

Nice! Congrats! I know you've probably said before but I can't remember, how long were you applying MN before being drawn?

We will be hunting over bait and have it set up for 5 days.
This was our 3rd year applying so really not that long.We are just impatient after the guide said we might get drawn the first year and for sure the 2nd. Kinda of had my doubts about this year.

I'm in the beginning stages, or even before that I suppose, of planning a black bear hunt. What drew you to MN, as opposed to some of the more common western (i.e. Montana, Idaho, etc.) states you hear people planning a black bear hunt to, if you don't mind sharing?

Roger, I came across a couple of things that were interesting to me, and thought I'd post them as just more information. The first link is from an Outfitter from Big Grass Outfitters in Manitoba Canada with his opinion on point of aim on bears. The second link is good information (bow hunters point of view with good anatomy layout) and worth reading. It's written  by a biologist. From the anatomy layout, the shoulder blade was actually a lot higher up than I visualized when I thought about shooting through the shoulder.
