DBM Questions
« on: June 03, 2017, 05:41:45 AM »
Hello all,
I'm a newb here so I apologize in advance if  have some silly questions...
Just picked up a New Vanguard II / Leupold package and was pleasantly surprised to find it has a detachable box magazine... which is something that I have become accustomed to not having, however, this is something handy

 So.... to my questions....

I noticed the DBM is a "3+1". Anyone have ANY idea why 3+1 and not 4+1 like the internal hinged floorplate design of my previous Vanguard?

2: Why plastic? For weight? Is there a metal mag made for it?

thats about it.... haven't shot the rifle yet... been too busy... but soon!

Thanks everyone

Jameson

Is this 3+1 a different caliber (magnum vs. non magnum possibly) than your 4+1 is?

Welcome to the Nation. I don't have a Vanguard with a detectable magazine, but many designs have a magazine that stack the cartridges in a straight vertical arrangement versus a staggered arrangement, thus the loss of capacity. Is this the case with yours?

I don't believe anything other than a polymer magazine has been manufactured, but the polymer magazines hold up pretty well.

Welcome to nation !

As Wyominghunter mentioned strait stack vs staggered will make the difference

I normally only load. 3 rounds anyway in my firearms when hunting even if does have 4-5 shot mag.

Enjoy new weatherby!

Have nice day Mike

I have a Vanguard in .308 that I bought an aftermarket DBM kit for. It came with a 10 shot mag. The whole DBM is plastic including the mag.

My old Vanguard is in 30 06 and has 4 shot internal + up the spout if you want it

New Vanguard is in 6.5x55 Swede

Dont want to comment on groups until break in period has been reached... So far?
Lets just say it needs to tighten up a little
