As far as I know there are no major fires here in Colorado, but the smoke sure is thick on the mountains. My throat is sore from being outside all weekend in it.

Is there any fires by your house or in your state??

I hope they stay away from where I am hunting in Idaho.

Chris, according to the Weather Channel there are some fires in Idaho. I'm also hoping they stay away from Salmon, ID. Keep an eye out for where they are.

We've been getting smoke from BC, northern Saskatchewan and western Montana.
Today there was a fairly big fire west of us near the Grassland National Park. I heard they brought in a water bomber and stopped it, the fire crews are mopping up hot spots. Stiff wind here all day, not a good time for a grass fire.

The news here is saying the smoke here is from Montana fires. But talked to a friend that came in from Canada and they said there is smoke Washington to Montana and south.

I know Big Muddy has been saying he hasn't got any rain all summer. Not good

We are still getting smoke from the B C fires here on occations when wind is coming from the west. Heard on the news yesterday that The Beast that was in Ft Mc Murray is finally totally out, that is all the muskeg in that area that kept it going for this long about 1.5 years after it started.

I'm here in the smokey Denver area and haven't been home in Montana for a couple of weeks, but last I heard there are 68 fires totaling 800,000 acres currently burning in Montana.

Just seen there are 81 major fires burning in the US. 28 in Montana, 20 in Oregon.

Brings back memories of a couple years ago when the fires were in Northern Colorado. Went to bed the fire was 25 miles west of the house and all mountains and forest between us and the Poudre river. Got up in the morning and it was very thick smoke, walking out to the barn I saw a tree in the smoke on the other side of the river go up in flames and it was than that I realized it was right there. It was so much smoke you couldn't see more than a 200 yards. Long story short it jumped the river and the only thing that saved the house and barn was a fire break we had put in with the skidsteer the week before. Evacuated for 5 days.

I feel for anyone that is going thru this

The outfitter emailed back and said only one acre has burned in his area. Smokey but things are in excellent shape and bears seem to be cooperating. Made me feel better.
