Huntn Bear in Minnesota
« on: September 11, 2017, 12:37:12 PM »
First day bear hunting Sunday. High south winds and 75.High winds equaled no mosquitos and also no bear during shooting hours. 11 hunters no bear seen.Guides ran baits this morning and checked game cameras.Left stand at last legal shooting time 8:10. One showed up on camera at 8:15.Sooo I will go to same stand tonite and hope bear comes in early.Guide also warned me that a sow and 2 cubs showed on camera at 2:30 AM.We caught a few small mouth bass from the bank and pier at the cabin we are staying at.No cell coverage at the lake . I can only get online in town at Guide's place.Pict of stand I was on last nite.Trees starting to turn colors here.Sorry not letting me post Picts right now.

The good luck wishes from you guys must have helped.Bear came in about 7:25 facing me against woods.Kinda not sure if he wanted to go to bait or not.Yeah he was making me nervous then.LOL He finally turned sideways and I decided to go ahead and blast him with the 45-70 with a 325 grain flex tip.Knocked him over to not move again. Some Picts with the fat sow,the entrance hole,a layer of fat peeled off etc.It may take a couple post for Picts.

I was so tempted to say congrats on this tread but knew I had to wait until you said something first. Congrats again, I am so glad you were successful.

Congrats Roger. Beautiful looking bear. Are you having it full body mounted or a rug?

Congratulations Roger!!! That's one chunky bear, it should be great eating too and make a great mount. The first bear I shot I had a shoulder mount made that's hanging over the fireplace, the next one I made into a rug and the last one I gave to a friend for his shop. Hopefully your buddy's fill their tags too.

Whew, Rodger, that's a fat old girl! Congratulations on getting a good bear. She was clearly preparing for winter and I suspect her meat will be awesome on the smoker. Enjoy!
