When the Ultralite Mark V first came out I put one in a 5 panel Lazermark stock. She was a beaut.

Got busy, and forgot to post up my range results.  The picture is with regular old Fusion 150 gr. factory ammo at 100 yds.  during my first outing with the 270 WSM Vanguard Sub MOA ... for me not too shabby for an old fart.  Seems this rifle likes the Fusions; 2nd best group was with Federal Vital Shok 150 gr. Nosler Partitions.

Thats a good group for a rifle that was built in the laboratory of your mind.  ;) Couldn't find any WSM ammo cheaper than between $28 and $29.50. It may be worth trying other factory ammo, but as you say your not to interested in cloverleaf groups, and more of a venison in the freezer guy, in which case you already have a winner with that Federal Fusion ammo. Hope you get to take your new creation on a hunt this season. Good luck

Thanks all for the additional comments!  Yeah, Danno, I don't reload, but I might want to go down that path and experiment some and tune a load for a bit better grouping/accuracy -- i.e., get closer to a true Sub MOA.  I dunno, we'll see.

Re: 224King and the 5-panel stock -- great minds, eh?   ;)

My plan is to have this new "Lazerguard" with me in the stand on opening morning this year.  Hopefully, the deer will be impressed!  HA!

You’ve got some pretty uppity deer in your area if they are not impressed with that rifle.

If you could find it somewhere, one other ammo I'd try would be the Hornady ELD 145 gr. Might not be cheap, but if that didn't work, I'd stop looking.

Interesting thought, Danno.  Yeah, good luck finding that new round in .270 WSM.  One site said they had an "expected" availability of Nov. 13th ... Wisconsin gun season opens Nov. 18th.  Soooo, maybe next year.  Appreciate the pointer, tho!

While I have always been a fan of blue steel and walnut that combo does trip my trigger. Looks Good!
