Federal 215M primers

I haven't experimented to see what the difference is between 215 and 215M primers would be. There might not be a noticeable difference. Right before I load the last of my 215M primers I will load some 215s and check for differences. It just boils down to you get a load that works for you and your gun digests them exceptionally well, it pisses you off when you can't find the components.

More of a reason to go to some other brand that is readily available.
Sorry... Yesterday was the last and final day for any and all complaints whatsoever.

I try to avoid temptation unless I can't resist it.

Guess it doesn't make much difference if their out of stock. So how different is the std. 215 from the 215M. I'm using the standard 215, am I missing something?

Actually I heard they come out of the same machine, it's just a more experienced person sorting???
Pretty sure this subject was brought up in a post many years ago about the difference?

I emailed Federal and got a rapid response. My question was whats the difference between the std.215 primer and the 215M primer, and does POI change if you interchange the two? Response was kind of general:
Dan
The difference between the 215 and GM215M primers are the consistency, if you are looking for extremely good accuracy the GM215M is just one more step you can take in a series of steps to make the best possible accuracy.

Thanks

That was a quick response, Danno. I emailed Midway 2 days ago asking when they expected more 215M and no response yet. If i was selling loaded ammo I'd be using my best primers to make it as accurate as possible. More money to be made there than selling reloading components.

I have been using CCI LRM primers for a long time as they were always available.  I see no difference in loads or accuracy.  :)

There is a minor difference but unless you have a bench rest quality rifle you will never notice it. But I do have a stash of older WLR primers that are marked for use in either standard or magnum loads and find they give me the best accuracy in my 35Whelen/AI with CFE 223 powder and keep them just for loads with that powder in that cartridge only since Winchester doesn't make them any more.
Most manufactures test their different lots on primers for consistent burn rates and separate them for match or standard primers.

With most of my loads with extruded powder under 80 gr's, I haven't seen a lot of difference with the different brand of primers. My loads over 80 grs with extruded powders seem to work the best with Fed 215's or WLRM's. My loads with slow burning ball powder's work the best with WLRM's.

Armsandammo.com has both.
Some like cologne, I like the smell of gunpowder.
