I have a friend who was an expert marksman in the Vietnam war who loves a .308. He has taken many deer out to 450-500 yards with a Remington 700 in .308. He just has a nack at hitting what he aims at. He uses it on woodchucks, crows and coyotes. He is a great shot because he shoots a lot. I have also seen him not take a shot because, as he says “I can’t kill it from here”. It isn’t that he couldn’t hit it, he just doesn’t think he could kill it. So he doesn’t shoot.
