Maryland bucks dropping antlers.

Maryland bucks dropping antlers.

I went bow hunting this evening and found this 10 yards from my ladder stand. I have no idea where this buck stays, I have no trail camera pics of him but he walked right past my tree stand recently. I guess this last cold snap has them dropping their antlers. I'm going back there tomorrow and try to find the other side.
     Found the other side.

I think my son killed his little boy in the rut. Notice the same split brow tines.

So do I, it seems this buck is very secretive. None of us has ever seen him and I have a couple trail cameras going and have no pics of him, NONE! I think he's messing with me, walking past my tree stand and dropping an antler right there, not nice of him at all. No doubt he's totally nocturnal and knows where my cameras are. I guess if he smells any human scent at all he stays clear. I hadn't hunted that stand in the last three weeks and he knew it. Best bet will be next years rut and hoping he gets stupid.

Looky looky what I found. The other side was found today, 800 yards from the first one. This buck has 8 points on the right side and 10 on the left side. Really making me look forward to next year's rut.

Holy crap. I sure hope you get a shot at that hoss. Got anything planned for the sheds?

That was generous of him wasn't it. I only wish he would have left a 50 at each shed, that no good cheap son of a buck. He'll pay for that next year when I catch up to him. ::)

I agree that was rude of him. I think a little ballistic lesson in manners is definitely in order.

Hey guys, a local taxidermist scored the rack. By using skull plate spacing from other bucks it ends up with an 18 7/8" inside spread, right main beam is 25 1/8", left main beam had 6" broken off (if it were to match the right side), the end of that beam pictured is a point, not the beam end. It still scored 186 4/8" gross. Of course this is unofficial since they are sheds. Already getting ready for the 2018 rut and hoping to come across the brute that dropped them.

Iím almost glad Iím not in your position. Itís only January and next Deer season must seem like a decade away for you.

Hereís hoping you get a chance to fight some buck fever this fall!
