Our farm heated up between Christmas and New Years.  The 10 point followed a small doe out at 9:20 AM.  I shot him with my 300 WBY Accumark at 140 yards with 180 grain BSTs.  145", 235 lbs.
On New Years Eve morning, this 8 point walked out, cruising for does.  I shot him at 150 yards with the same rifle.  138", 210 lbs.
We put this farm into a CRP and Cottonwood program 8 years ago.  We are starting to hold some mature bucks.  Most of our stands are on lanes in the trees or field edges.  I prepare to shoot to 500 yards.  The 300 really does the trick for this situation.

Wow! What a season! I know hunters who haven’t taken 2 deer like that in their lifetimes, much less 1 season...

Looks like you have a little piece of hunting heaven. What’s the details of your farm? Family owned or do you have a long standing relationship with the owner? How many acres to y’all have?

Great bucks! I had no idea Louisiana produced big body deer.

In regards to Louisiana producing big bodied deer.... ON the Mississipi river bottom, especially around Tensas and Madison parishes big bodied deer are prevelant. I hunt a club in North Central near Jonesboro and the old boys are all over 200 lbs. One killed this year was 146 inch 8 point that was 242 on the hoof.

I am from Madison Parish and hunt there, my father has shot multiple 220-265lb bucks and myself have shot multiple 210-240lb the “river” deer are bigger. Love hunting bottoms and CRP.
