The bolt face was opened a bit and the barrel is new. The receiver is bedded, with additional glass extended to the end of the stock to stiffen it. Lots if smoothing of parts was done by the gunsmith.

The Boyds walnut stock has five or six coats of Tru Oil and is bedded from tang to the up of the forend for stiffness, not complete contact. The barrel floats 1” past the recoil lug. Bottom metal and a hinged floor plate came from a Santa Barbara Mauser. The Timney trigger is around 2.5lbs, it seems, and has virtually no travel, only needing pressure to engage it. A new bolt handle is also an additional lug. The gunsmith put a new firing pin and smothed the contact surfaces, along with beveling the extractor claw so it goes into the cartridge grove easier. The 24” ER Shaw barrel is a 1:9.5 twist. I wanted a 1:8 rate but didn’t spend the money it would have needed. I think I will be fine with it since I’m wanting something with speed, so the 150 grain bullets are what I will likely use. All the metal has a new, zinc oxide finish, including the brake from Brownells.

I had a Meopto scope that I was going to use but switched to a Nikon Buckmaster BDC. I like the holdover points vs clicks. I will post the sale info on it later.

I have a 98 that has a start to a build,but haven't figured out what exactly to put on it.My idea was to build my son a 25-06 out of it,but he's happy with his 257 Mag,5 panel,Jap Lazermark and 26" German made Varmintmaster in 22-250.With the 6.5 craze I've kicked around 6.5-257 Mag,260 Rem,6.5-284,and 6.5-06.I have even thought about a 220 Rocket with an 8" twist to shoot 60-80 grain bullets like Roger has in mind I think.Just sitting white in the safe right now.Decisions,decisions,hmmm?

All that's been done so far is trued up bolt face,Timney trigger,and bent the bolt handle.If I do something with it I think it will be for me.

The 7mm Weatherby has shown it likes three different bullet weights using three different powders. Not pictured is the load with 140gn Nosler Partitions over H-4831 but it was under an inch. The 150gn Nosler Accubond Long Range over RL-26 made a tiny group. I was pleased with the 162gn Hornady Interlock over H-4350, and even with the shot I pulled to the right, I tossed another shot and liked what I got.
With a muzzle brake there is no muzzle jump and recoil feels like it’s a 243 Win.
