I have a Sporter in 257 Wea and a S&W Howa 1500 ( Basicaly the same rifle) in 25/06. Great accurate rifles, although a tad on the heavy side. At the very least the equal of the Rem 700 and Win 70.

I like mine. It now what you call old school for a .257 now, it has the 24” barrel where they come with a 26” barrel now. Glad they are doing this now.

Vanguards are great accurate rifles. I also like that most of the Weatherby calibers are 26 inch barrels now.

I've owned three Vanguards and still have two of em. I've become pretty fond of Remington 700s as of late but I won't part with either of my Vanguards. I also plan to buy a MK V after Weatherby has relocated to Wyoming. I want to support Weatherby's move to a more gun friendly state.

Unless they change, Howa makes them for Weatherby.

We were talking about a Mark V when we were talking about Wyoming

My series 2 stainless 30-06 gets sub 1/2 minute groups with both 150 and 180 Barnes Vor-tx ammo.. who needs more than that in a hunting rifle!? Still waiting on my new Accuguard in 300 win - I'm hopeful I can get similar results with that gun. Love the Vanguards!

I have 4 Vanguards (I think?). Let's see. .223, .257, 6.5, 30-06. Oh, and one Howa in 6.5. I would like a .243 but i want to shoot the heavier Berger bullets (100 grain plus) and the twist is all wrong.  :-\

My very first Bee was a Vanguard Synthetic in 300 Roy that I bought at Wally World for $400.  Took a nice Manitoba black bear and a couple Russian boars with it -- including the one in my profile pic!  You just cannot beat the Vanguard's prices point, workmanship and field performance.  And if you're wanting to step it up, but can't swing he cash for a Mark V, they make some superb upscale Vanguards, too.
Roy was a genius.  Period.
