Vanguard 30-06 and Nikon ProStaff 3-9x40, which scope mounts?

I've heard there is a clearance issue for the bolt with this combo and that I need extended(taller) mount?

She gets out of jail on 6/4, want to get the mount purchased and shipped so I am ready to roll.

I use Talley Lightweight rings on my Vanguard. contact them and they will tell you which model you need.

Ive had a prostaff 5 with a 50mm bell on two different Vanguards and medium height rings have worked for me both times without any bolt clearance issues. If memory serves one was Leupold rings and bases and the other was Talley. As suggested, Id call Talley and ask but Id guess you could use lows??

Welcome to the Nation Foghorn. I will agree that low rings will probably work well with a 40mm bell, and you can't go wrong with Talley Lightweights. Call em for the right set. The low rings can help you to stay low behind the rifle with a good cheek weld. Actually with the bigger objective bells being much more common these days, adjusting and holding a good cheek weld is all it really takes.

+1 on the Talleys.  I used to be a Leupold purist, and still am for the glass.  But, I came to really like the Talley mounts when I put 'em on an Mark V Ultra Lightweight I was totin'.  The aluminum alloy is durable and certainly light, and the fit and craftsmanship are great.
