I have never seen a double barreled rifle like that, just the over under with different caliber barrels. :)

Same here, but I was surprised to see quite a few gun makers produce these rifles, and they're expensive. Just one example:

How hard would the recoil be on 2-30-06's going off at once?

With 2 polar bears in front of you do you think you would notice? :o

I made the mistake of hip shooting a bolt action 30-06 once and though I didn't drop the rifle I won't do it again. I was home on leave when I was in the military, I had gone ground hog hunting and had one surprise me coming out of a hole and with out thinking pointed the barrel at it and fired blowing it's head off. Needless to say I had a sore wrist for a while even though I was only shooting 110gr bullets.

I don't think you notice the recoil, my only thought would be "RELOAD"

A friend of mine has a side by side rifle that was made in Germany and is chambered for the 8x57JR.  It takes some getting use to because it has double triggers, one set and one is fire.  But once you get use to it it's a lot of fun to shoot.
Nothing is better than a Weatherby, big bore magnum, or a Colt.

hahaha  ;D  I seen a side by side rifle in 30-06 in Europe, I don't recall what brand it was. They told me, a lot of them like using them for boar hunting. I never tired shooting it, but it would be cool to own one.  8)

looking at that pic in the link, that ammo with those darker colored primers, that's loaded in that rifle, sure looks like plain old Winchester Super X.

Article said he fired both barrels at the same time.  Leads me to speculate he was using a double trigger Baikal or Remington SPR , if memory serves me both were made by Baikal,   Not expensive guns at the time pretty decent weapons,  I wouldn't mind having either one.   There are/were other makers of sxs 30-06, less expensive to expensive.
