Anyone using Speer bullets? I have never tried them for some reason. They usually seem to be cheaper than other brands.Thinking about trying some for plinking target practice.

I use the 140 gr. Hot Cor and 145 gr. Boat tail in my 7mm-08 for hogs. All one shot kills from 35 yards to 400 yards. The 400 yard was a 205 pound hog. I use the 200 gr. Hot Cor in my 338 Federal on  my black bear hunt with devastating results. All loads are very accurate and near book maximum loads.

I've used Speer bullets for a long time, though over the last decade or two they've been largely supplanted by Nosler and Hornady.  I still use Speer in two of my rifles, though.  I use the 150gr Flat Point in my 30-30WCF, and I use the 220gr Flat Point in my 350RemMag.  Both of these are the Hot-Cor design, where a molten lead core is poured into the formed copper cup, rather than a cast core being swaged in place.  Supposedly, this cuts down on core separation, and is really the precursor to bonded bullets, in some ways.  Based on the rifles I use these bullets in, I can't speak to whether or not the process helps with core separation, as neither is known to blow bullets apart.  But both bullets expand well in game (based on wound channels and exits) and I've never lost a game animal or varmint I've shot with these bullets.

I've used the 145 gr SBT in my 7mm/08 for many years as well as  the 120 SBT in my 25/06. Never had a problem, accurate and well priced.

I tried the 165 Grand Slams in my 300 H&H with good success, but ended up going back to Nosler partitions.

Yep I use the 100 grain Speer SP in my .243 and the 130 grainer in one of my 7mm-08. The main critters I use them on are feral goats and pigs. I think they are a very underrated projectile.
I have some 150 grain Hot Cores loaded up in my .270 WBY but am yet to test them.

I've used them in various of calibers and they worked good, the discontinued 243 cal. 105gr bullet was great in my 240 Weatherby.

I use 270gn Hot-Cor Speer’s in my 9.3x62mm Mauser. They are incredibly accurate for such a big bullet.

+1 eford, I've used the 270 gr BTSP in a 375 H&H, they are very accurate, and worked great on moose and elk.

Hello Roger.
I will try to post image of three shots with Speer bullet 165 grains with my Vanguard S1 300 WM distance 150 meters. That amunition was reloaded by myself.  It looks like two shots in same place but reallly there are three. For me, that bullet kills very well and bring a perfect perfomance talking about precision. I win Weatherby perfomance description with that rifle.. LOL. The bullet is 308" spitzer soft point Hot-Cor
Be fine Roger and every forist.

Same here and I'm really glad you asked this question. They cost quite a bit less than other bullets but from what I'm reading they're a good bullet. Ima try some
